Aidan McFahn
S24 Team Leader
I began my travel career with stints working in Spain, Greece and Austria before moving back to London to earn my degree in Tourism Management. After graduation I worked as a specialist travel consultant with a tour operator, creating tailor-made holidays in India, China and the Silk Road countries. This passion for unique travel experiences led me to Mr & Mrs Smith, where I’m now able to dive into the world of one-of-a-kind boutique hotels and a diverse range of travel club members who have an array of travel preferences; I love helping to create personalised travel experiences – and, of course, heading off on my own adventures when I’m not busy crafting holidays for our members.

Palma, Spain
Can Bordoy
With a glass-bottomed rooftop pool that looks down over the building’s original staircase, this boutique hotel has brought sun-worshipping to a new level. And you won’t need to lift a finger during your stay; your very own butler will make sure you’re well looked after.

The Swan Southwold
This boutique pub-with-rooms in the heart of Southwold is attached to Adnams distillery. Locals are always bobbing in for a drink, rooms have impressive four-poster beds and I still have dreams about the Full English breakfast.

Beijing, China
Aman Summer Palace
A stone's throw from the wall (don’t throw stones), this luxe hotel has after-hours access to the dramatic Summer Palace and its manicured gardens. Rooms are especially spacious for Beijing and the large courtyards are perfect for soaking up a bit of sunshine.

Travel Tips
I always invest in a paper map before any holiday. People forget this and go straight to their smartphones, but I think it’s more fun to go old school; I also prefer paperbacks to Kindles though…

Vancouver Island
Take the flight from Vancouver to Long Beach airport – you’ll fly on small Piper Aircraft with eight seats; the views as you descend into the forest are unreal. Once on Vancouver Island, learn to surf or go for sea-based wildlife safaris to spot orcas, bears and seals.

China
My favourite part of China has to be Beijing, which has a massive population with an array of cultures. I love exploring the neighbourhoods in search of the best bites, and hands-down the best Peking duck I’ve found is at Quanjude.

Catalonia
I spent my childhood summers in this region, which has sprawling national parks. Set out for hikes or bike rides and make strategic stops at local wineries and olive groves for lunch.

I wish I was...
high in the mountains of Montsant National Park in Catalonia, cycling from village to village and trying the local wines and olive oils. My overnight stop choice is Terra Dominicata, with its winding driveway, dining terrace and outdoor pool, it’s the perfect spot for resting after a physically demanding day.
