Our favourite rooms
The river-spying suites are eye-poppingly, breathtakingly lovely: our favourites include the Arch Suite for its original – yup – arch, the King’s Suite for its incredible wooden coffered ceiling and the Queen’s Suite for its stucco work and unabashedly romantic white-and-blue bathroom, whose tiles date back to 1901. Deluxe rooms also merit mention for their views of the Bica neighbourhood.
A city hotel with an alfresco swimming pool? Yes please. The Palácio’s diminutive pool comes with panoramic views of the Tagus River and beyond.
Bring cobble-friendly footwear and a hunger for custard tarts.
Communal areas are suited to wheelchair-users; one room has a wheelchair-adapted bathroom.
Over-8s can come, too, but the hotel is designed with adults in mind.
The restaurant champions organic produce and serves organic wine. You’ll find fragrant, earth-kind Aesop products in the bathrooms.
