Rates are usually room-only, but you can buy breakfast à la carte at the hotel. A nightly resort fee includes a welcome drink, gym, workplace and beach access, as well as entry to the private members’ club and programming events.

Children

Little Smiths are permitted and under-16s are charged as children; but with some time restrictions around access to communal spaces and dining, The Moore Miami feels more of an adult-focused stay.

Sustainability efforts

The Moore Miami has Earth-kind measures in place, including energy-efficient lighting, water-saving fixtures and a robust recycling program. The kitchen and bars work with local, sustainable suppliers; water stations and biodegradable materials are helping to minimise single-use plastics at the hotel, too. Cleaning materials are also selected for their sustainability.

Dress Code

A smart Miami aesthetic will work perfectly at either restaurant, although we’re switching out the designer bling for some creative swagger with sculptural costume jewelry and colorblock prints.

Hotel restaurant

In an eyecatching setting dressed with Sossego furniture and crowned by Hadid’s namesake sculpture, Elastika is The Moore’s public restaurant. Executive chef Joe Anthony oversees American cuisine with Mediterranean influences in dishes including gazpacho, seared hand-dived scallops and a signature smoked chicken platter for two. On the Club floor, find casual, all-day plates and freshly prepared sushi at the members-only Courtyard, where alongside picking out your preferred American classic, you’ll need to decide your favorite dining nook, too. 
 

Hotel bar

Sage-velvet banquettes curl around lamp-lit tables beneath the atrium sculpture at Elastika — a cozy spot in which to dip into its reverential curation of cocktails. The bar upstairs at the Club has more of a low-lit buzz and intimate feel, putting you in pole position to enjoy any live music or DJ sets on the calendar. Follow apéritifs at Elastika and post-dinner tipples at the Club with a discrete shuffle to the Rabbit Hole — the hotel’s diminutive speakeasy, which stays open till late.

Last orders

Monday to Saturday, Elastika serves lunch from noon until 3pm, and dinner from 5pm until 10pm; Sunday brunch hours are from 11am until 4pm. The Courtyard serves from noon until 10pm (Monday to Thursday) and 11pm (Friday and Saturday); closed on Sundays.

Room service

The Moore Miami has a dedicated menu, available between 8am and 11am for breakfast in bed, then from noon until 10pm for dishes from their all-day selection.

The Moore Miami is in the mainland city, primed for upscale shopping and gallery forays in the heart of Miami’s Design District.

Planes

Miami International Airport is around 35 minutes by car from the hotel and staff can arrange private transfers on request at an additional cost.

Automobiles

There’s no parking at the hotel, but you can find paid spots around the surrounding streets and at the district’s four carparks.

Worth getting out of bed for

Beyond The Moore’s collection of local art and resident ‘Reclining Mermaid’ mural, Miami Design District is peppered with public art that you’re welcome to explore using the district guide. Galleries are in ample supply, too: start with a classic, the Institute of Contemporary Art; swing by the Opera Gallery to compare and contrast, before unearthing new favorites at the David Castillo Gallery or taking an experimental turn at the Office. 

To the south in Wynwood, a handful of operators offer guided street art tours of the neighborhood (by golf cart, if you prefer), and you can explore its legacy in more depth at the Museum of Graffiti. 

The hotel’s locale means you’re also in a hot spot for shopping. If boutiques could parade in a fashion show, the catwalk may well resemble the District’s line-up of designer stores: Hermès, Loewe, Bottega Veneta, Cartier and more are runway-ready; Dior’s modish outpost comes with a rooftop café.

Local restaurants

A mainstay of the district’s dining scene that’s been recently overhauled, Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink is a lively spot for cocktails and American dining, where the menu doesn’t hesitate to detour via Thailand or Sicily to deliver flavor-packed plates. Japanese restaurants abound in Miami: explore a modern approach to Japan’s culinary heritage, informed by seasonal ingredients and small-scale expert suppliers, at Hiyakawa, where a cavernous, wood-ribbed dining space also impresses. A biblical choice of natural vintages and a sprawling terrace are your cues to dine on wine-paired, house-made pasta at Otto & Pepe. 

 

Local cafés

Brunch at Sadelle’s at Kith, tucked into the boutique, comes with a side of art-deco styling; admire the vintage photography while you work through a stack of pancakes or a smoked salmon bagel. Downtown at La Camaronera, the tale of how a fish shack became a gourmet-admired seafood stalwart is best told through its OG fried snapper sandwich. 

Local bars

Sunny afternoons call for an ice-cream that’s all grown-up from Aubi & Ramsa’s alcohol-laced selection of scoops. In Wynwood, Gramps bar is a classic late-night venue for vinyl nights, live music and comedy, washed down with hot pizza and cold beers.

It feels on point that The Moore Miami was originally a furniture factory, built in the 1920s, as today’s hotel is a work of craft in itself. What began in 2005, when the space was overhauled for the inaugural Design Miami, has now been amplified with the addition of 13 individually dressed suites and studios on the fourth floor. Stays here also unlock access to a members’ club and workspace. 

With an atrium-spanning sculpture by Zaha Hadid at its heart and a gigantic mermaid mural up top, this Design District crashpad is an artistic trailblazer. You can admire whatever’s on show in its gallery (and adorning its communal spaces); coo over the curvaceous furnishings from Sossego and Dallas-based Mous in your suite, and dine beneath Hadid’s eponymous installation at Elastika. 

Its creative pedigree and heart-of-the-city address mean that you’re a world away from the touristy buzz of Miami Beach, which only adds to The Moore’s avant-garde appeal.
