More details

Rates at The Hoxton, Shoreditch usually exclude breakfast, which is available at Il Bambini Club for £23 each. Alternatively, you'll find a breakfast bag in your room, which you can leave outside your room to be filled with a breakfast to go for £5 each.

Also

The Hoxton, Shoreditch has seven adapted rooms across the Cosy and Roomy categories, each with a roll-in shower, grab bars, lowered features and vibrating pillows. The communal areas and public bathrooms are all accessible, with ramps, elevators and wide corridors.

At the hotel

Shop, charged laundry service and free WiFi throughout. In rooms: TV, Roberts radio, air-conditioning, tea- and coffee-making kit, mini fridge, free boxed water and bespoke bath products.

Our favourite rooms

Interiors take inspiration from mid-century design, but rooms are duly stocked with mod-cons: a Roberts radio, artwork and photography from East London creatives, and reclaimed furnishings. The Cosy Double has chrome accents and a bespoke scalloped headboard, plus its bathroom is one of this heritage hotel’s originals, with chocolate-brown tiles contrasting turquoise basins. If you’re after more sprawling space, the Roomy is your best bet with its king-size bed.

Packing tips

An appreciation for small, local brands — the Hoxton partners with nearby suppliers to stock their Hox Shop, which you’ll find in reception instead of an in-room minibar (some space in your suitcase might be apt, too).

Also

If you need to work up an appetite to keep up with your restaurant reservations while in East London, the hotel partners with nearby Old Street Gymbox for day passes at £17.50.

Pet‐friendly

All rooms at The Hoxton, Shoreditch are pet-friendly; dogs stay free, and a bowl and bed are provided. See more pet-friendly hotels in London.

Children

Welcome, though this Shoreditch stay is more geared towards grown-ups. Book a Roomy to add a free baby cot or an extra bed for an under-12; there are also connecting options. The team will supply family-friendly kit, menus and suggestions.

Sustainability efforts

The Hoxton, Shoreditch holds a Green Key certificate thanks to its banning of single-use plastics; energy- and water-saving devices; recycling programmes and plans to reduce food waste by 60 per cent by 2030. Throughout its thoughtful refurbishment, all no-longer-needed furniture was repurposed, sold or donated. As well their dedication to staff wellbeing and collaborations with local business and charities, your hosts also aim to be net zero by 2050.

Hotel restaurant

On the ground floor, Il Bambini Club brings la dolce vita to Shoreditch with its decadent furnishings, internal courtyard and colourful ceramics. Seasonal pizzas, fresh pasta and indulgent dolci add to the Amalfi Coast effect, as do Mediterranean-style spritzes, but weekly DJ sets are your reminder that you’re in East London. Come morning, you can tuck into chia bowls, cold-press juices and savoury classics with an Italian spin, such as eggs Benedict with prosciutto on focaccia.

The seventh-floor rooftop is where Llama Inn whips up Peruvian small plates of ceviche and empanadas alongside grilled meats and seafood sharing platters. It’s a bright and breezy space with a bohemian feel, which is enhanced by natural wines and signature pisco sours; city views from conservatory-style windows and the outdoor terrace bring an urban edge.

Hotel bar

You’ll find bars in both restaurants: swing by Il Bambini for an afternoon Aperol spritz or Amaro night cap; pisco is the MO at Llama Inn, especially at ‘sour hour’. You can also buy a bottle from the Hox Shop in reception if a drink chez vous is more enticing.

Last orders

All-day Il Bambini Club serves breakfast from 7am until noon, and closes at 11pm. Llama Inn opens for lunch from noon (11am at weekends) until 4.45pm; dinner runs 5pm until 10pm on Sunday/Monday, 11pm on Tuesday/Wednesday, midnight on all other days.

Liverpool Street Station, a 15-minute walk away, is your closest hub for regional routes and the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow Airport; hop on the tube at Old Street, a five-minute stroll from the hotel.

Worth getting out of bed for

The Hoxton, Shoreditch sits in the creative heart of East London, a stroll from many long-loved haunts. Browse for independent buys at Spitalfields Market or trawl for vintage treasures along Brick Lane; Columbia Road blooms with its flower market on Sundays, but the boutique-lined street is also worth a mooch on quieter days. You’ll get your culture fix at the Barbican, with its cinema and exhibitions, or a moving ballet performance at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. Cosplay a local and stroll along Regent’s Canal towards Victoria Park, with pitstops at speciality coffee shops and artisanal bakeries, or tap into the city’s big hitters in easy-to-reach central London.

Local restaurants

Set in a former school turned arts centre, Rochelle Canteen is a refined, leafy spot for seasonal, mod-British dining. Candlelit dinners at one of Bistro Freddie’s white-clothed tables or at the chef-watching bar pair regional produce with French flavours and wine. Contemporary but cosy Brawn is a cornerstone (in both senses) of Columbia Road and has a cult following for its warm ambience and Mediterranean sharing plates.

Local cafés

You might spy Jolene’s Tuscan-pink brickwork across East London, but their hole-in-the-wall outpost on Redchurch Street is your closest for moreish pastries and brews. Another on-the-go option to fuel your forays is Beigel Bake, a round-the-clock shop for well-stuffed bagels and other tempting treats.

Local bars

Brown-tiled The Griffin is a polished pub with craft beers, gin-laced drinks and dark-wood interiors, and on balmier days, patrons spill out onto the pavement. Intimate cocktail bar Coupette shakes up inventive cocktails — many in its namesake glass — with French inspiration and liqueurs.

In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside The Hoxton, Shoreditch…

The Hoxton, Shoreditch has been a community pillar for over two decades, but its recent makeover means it’s now match-fit for the next 20. In your bedroom, you’ll find colourful and contemporary furnishings such as bespoke scalloped headboards, chrome desks and individually styled artwork from local creatives. Discover nods to this Hoxton’s pedigree and setting threaded through its communal areas, too, with paintings inspired by Columbia Road’s flower market and lofty, brick-clad ceilings nodding to Shoreditch’s industrial background.

East London's culinary diversity is acknowledged in this Hoxton’s two dining spots: Il Bambini Club is a sociable, all-day Italian, equally tempting for day-starting coffees and pastries as it is for aperitivi. And rooftop Llama Inn may swiftly become your go-to for sours and ceviche, savoured with cityscape backdrops.

You’ll get a feel for your locale without stepping foot outside of this heritage hotel, but when you’re ready to explore further, East London’s delights are on your doorstep.
