Our favourite rooms

At Tayko Sevilla, curated pops of colour — bright wallpaper, patterned headboards, local artwork — are your reminder of your vibrant city setting. And just because you might be out roaming the city all day doesn’t mean you should scrimp on space or style back at base: the Signature room’s Juliet balcony is primed for your first dose of sunshine and fresh air each morning; the DLX View has a freestanding in-room bath tub, made for soothing soaks.

There’s a petite pool on the rooftop terrace, but it’s better suited to photoshoots and dipping toes rather than swimming.

Worth getting out of bed for

Sojourns in Seville pack a punch — and we’re not just talking about their sangría. Tayko Sevilla is the ideal launching point for cultural outings: you’re steps from the stunning Seville Cathedral, where you can climb its ancient belltower for breathtaking (in both senses) views over the city; next door, you’ll find the Royal Alcázar, which wows with centuries-old tiles, cooling courtyards and ornate archways. The rest of the Santa Cruz barrio is just as delightful, with its tapas bars, orange tree-scented squares and old-Jewish-quarter heritage.

Swap Moorish for modern at mushroom-inspired Setas de Sevilla, an avant-garde structure with a rooftop walkway, or head over to hip ‘hood Triana for its market hall, flamenco performances and local watering holes. Spring’s Feria de Abril is an annual week-long fiesta with alfresco concerts and street parties; year-round, mosaic-clad Cordóba is a worthy day-trip.

Local restaurants

Lingering lunches of seafood-crowned paella are made all the more dreamy at refined Rio Grande, which has interiors as pristine as its waterfront views. You’ll feel like you’re dining in a world-class library at Restaurante Chicarreros (albeit with no shushing), which has tome-lined walls and vintage chandeliers; its fine food and wine are one for the books, too. A white-tile design suggests informality, but starred Cañabota takes its omakase and seafood tasting menus seriously.

Local cafés

Korean classics are paired with Spanish flavours at Ozik, a quaint café that’s favoured for its open sandwiches, sweet treats and speciality iced lattes. Hole-in-the-wall Delatribu delivers on-the-go caffeine fixes in the form of cappuccini and cold brews.

Local bars

Family-run Casa Morales has earned stalwart status for its traditional tapas, Spanish wines and sherry, and rustic interiors. Swap vintage bottles for bath-tub cocktails at Montana, a neon-glowing bar with creative tipples and late-night dancing.

As soon as our reviewers have returned from this boutique hotel in Seville and unpacked their sherry and artisanal flamenco fans, a full account of their cultured city break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside Tayko Sevilla in Spain…

Seville is an all-senses introduction to spirited Andalucia, a region loved for its diverse heritage, lively ferias and generously poured sherry. For that reason, you might be tempted to pack some dancing shoes, polka dots and castanets to look the part. But at Tayko Sevilla, things are a little more understated, compared to the Spanish stereotype.

Its whitewashed interiors are a welcome antidote to the colour-clad streets, but bright flourishes — headboards, wallpaper, fabrics — pay homage to the city’s maximalist approach. Its location is prime Sevillian stomping ground, too: a stroll from the jaw-dropping cathedral, pristine Murillo Gardens and ornate Royal Alcázar.

After days taking in the Triana or Santa Cruz neighbourhoods, return to post-flânant tonics from your good-natured hosts in the form of in-room massages, streetside tapas and rooftop-pool dips. Less might be more when it comes to Tayko Sevilla’s design, but there’s no holding back with its pampering frills.
