All Rosewood Baha Mar rooms and suites are thoughtfully kitted out with luxury details. Villas and suites with one bedroom or more come with butler service. Of the rooms, anything with an ocean view puts you on the higher floors, and for a kitchenette, bag a studio suite. Of the suites, Grand One-Bedroom Suites are idyllic for indoor-outdoor living and come with a choice of views. Three- and six-bedroom villas are oceanfront on Cable Beach, with slick contemporary decor and photoshoot-worthy pools, as well as made-for-lazing upstairs decks.
Poolside
Three pools complement Rosewood Baha Mar’s oceanfront setting. Only the Caribbean sands separate the Lagoon Pool from the Atlantic: this family-friendly pool with ladder entry is curvaceous and tropically landscaped, featuring an islet of palms at one end. The upshot is that its clusters of sunloungers and daybeds at its edges retain a sense of privacy. This area’s also home to the Lagoon Whirlpool, a circular spa pool with submerged bench-seating that’s tucked away, secluded among jungly planting and fringed by wicker sofas and armchairs beneath a polished-wood portico. Nearer the hotel in the grand courtyard, the Cabana Pool is a three-tiered infinity pool, surrounded by a profusion of daybeds and cabanas. Note that both pool areas are open 9am–7pm and have lifeguards on duty; daybeds and cabanas are bookable extras that come with a private host, fridge-cooled drinks and fruit, and even wine and lunch, depending on which bundle you choose.
Spa
Sense, a Rosewood Spa, is a neutral-hued warren of six treatment rooms flooded with natural light and garden views, and a relaxation lounge. The complex also features a Jacuzzi, plus the hotel’s nail and hair salons. Among its face and body treatments are locally inspired therapies such as the Arawak Body-Balance, which uses hot and cold compresses, exfoliation and a moringa-leaf wrap to boost your immune system; or the Gullah Geechee Tea Tox featuring herbal brews and an invigorating hot rub with neem oil. The hotel’s fitness center is open 24 hours, with cardiovascular, weight-training and stretching equipment arranged with garden views; outdoors, there are various running routes plotted around the grounds. Over-fours are best placed to enjoy not only the kids club, but the pools and beach, as well as the water park and marine sanctuary.

Two Queen rooms accommodate up to four, and one-bedroom suites sleep three with living space. It’s the multi-bedroom suites and oceanfront villas, however, that top the family podium with practicality and panache.
Crèche
Beside the Lagoon Pool, Rosewood Explorers’ Club is open year-round to little Smiths aged four to 12. Activities follow a different ocean theme daily, with pirate parties, trips to the marine sanctuary, craft sessions, sports (basketball, mini golf) and indoor play, all laced with a little learning about the resort’s marine setting. From inside the club, there’s a window overlooking the flamingo enclosure for sneak peeks at the resident flock.
Activities
Cable Beach is a safe swimming bay edged by coral sands that’s ideal for families, with watersports kit and rigs, free to borrow. Rosewood Baha Mar stays come with unlimited free access to Baha Bay waterpark; there’s animal feeding and touch-tanks at the marine sanctuary, and the spectacle of pink-feathered residents at Flamingo Cay. As well as the activities offered to little Smiths at Rosewood Explorers’ Club, all-ages cooking classes at the Kitchen are a memorable option for the whole family. And a miniature golf course allows kids to tee off without the unwieldy stepcount of standard fairways. Occasionally, Rosewood Explorers Club hosts family movie nights, too.
Swimming pool
The Lagoon Pool and Cabana Pool are open 9am until 7pm and are staffed by lifeguards; all children (under 16) must be accompanied by an adult.
Meals
Under-fives dine free at Rosewood Baha Mar, and there are highchairs and child-friendly options across all dining spots. Studio suites have kitchenettes, and there are full kitchens and butler service in all larger suites. In the afternoon, if you’re anywhere near the pergola lawn, look out for the gelato cart and grab a cone.

Just ask the flamingos… the conservation efforts associated with Rosewood Baha Mar stretch all the way from the engaging wildlife education you’ll find at the marine sanctuary and aviary to their efforts in coral-reef protection working with a specialist partner organisation. Timers, sensors and LED bulbs are helping to reduce the hotel’s energy use; and a waste management system means Rosewood Baha Mar is now recycling 15lbs of aluminium and 400lbs of glass a day. Then there are the details playing their part to make this island retreat a more Earth-kind stay: you won’t find any single-use plastic in your minibar, there are bamboo toothbrushes, guest refillable water bottles, and a wealth of carbon-offsetting schemes to help guests counter their inevitable air travel.
The hotel gardens are abundant with tropical planting, so bag a table at Costa with a jungly vista. At Café Boulud, the terrace is a wonderful shady spot, and breakfast at Tingum, with your toes in the sand, is an idyllic start to any day.
Dress Code
There’s definite scope to pack a little finery and add to the sense of occasion for dinner. Mr Smiths will need long pants, shirt sleeves and shoes with covered toes for most dining spots.
Hotel restaurant
At Rosewood Baha Mar, you’ll never run out of choice when it comes to dining. Café Boulud is the hotel’s mainstay – an elegant chandelier-decked double-height space with marble floors, Thirties-glamorous styling, and an expansive terrace of shaded tables beside the hotel’s grand staircase in the gardens. Breakfast is à la carte with a choice of sweet or savoury plates that runs from waffles to omelettes to lox and bagels; French cuisine takes over for dinner, with polished plates themed around ‘mer’ and ‘terre’: octopus and pork belly; baked oysters, or shrimp salad; tournedos rossini is the restaurant’s signature dish. Café Boulud has a wine cellar, available for group tastings and, with a backlit wall of bottles, it’s an atmospheric spot for private dinners, too. Off the lobby, the lounge-like Library is a wood-panelled retreat of sofas and low-slung chairs that excels at breakfast and afternoon tea in equal measure: the former is a continental spread with American hot dishes cooked to order; afternoon tea (from noon until 5pm) is a triumph of savoury and sweet pastries, accompanied by potted brews or glasses of fizz as you please; it’s also a casual lunch option with a menu of salads, pasta and croque-monsieur. A wander through the grounds takes you to cabana-like Costa. Edged by koi ponds and open-walled, it’s a rustic-luxe setting for Bahamian-meets-Mexican fare, which has you at ceviche, but doubles down on your affections with a mezcal and tequila bar. Go for lobster tacos, scorched conch with xnipec salsa or tuna tostada at lunch; for dinner, the tacos and ceviche are joined by grilled zucchini and shrimp, dry aged angus rib-eye, and spicy chicken mole and couscous. Beyond this trio of eateries, Tingum is the hotel’s on-the-sands events space, but when the hotel’s busy, it opens to all for breakfast with a selection of continental and hot options à la carte. Manor Bar has a choice of bar snacks to accompany its cocktail list; food and drink can be brought to your lounger on the beach or by the pool, and if you wander the resort path towards Baha Mar, there are Airstream food trucks and a clutch of restaurants vying for your attention, not to mention the dining spots around the casino.
Hotel bar
There’s gentlemen’s-snug grandeur to the walnut-leather chairs and sculptural velvet sofas at Manor Bar, matched in nostalgia by classic cocktails such as sidecars, smoked old fashioneds and Manhattans, served alongside wine or champagne by the glass: soak up the alcohol with Iberico croquettes, pesto flatbreads or nduja hummus and crudités. Open noon until midnight (1am at weekends).

For Café Boulud, it’s 7am–11.30am, and 6pm–10.30pm. The Library opens 8am–7pm. For Costa, it’s noon–5pm, and 6pm–9.30pm.

Rosewood Baha Mar is your one-stop resort for discovering all the activities you never knew you liked before… Its setting on Cable Beach in Nassau puts you in pole position for either days idled on the sand, taking to the water, or diving the local reefs (guided snorkelling also available). All non-motorised watersports are included with your stay: borrow kayaks, SUPs, water hammocks or floating lounges. Or you could hire a motorised surfboard, aquacart (a bit like a jetski), or Bond-esque seabob diving scooter. Entry to waterpark Baha Bay is included with your stay and open to all ages. As well as Flamingo Cay, the resort’s marine sanctuary spotlights Bahamian conservation with stingrays, sharks, turtles and a neighbouring walk-through aviary, with options to meet the macaws or feed the budgies. Baha Mar’s pink-feathered flock features in meet-and-greet encounters, a twice-daily parade, and occasional yoga-with-flamingos sessions. There are loungers and parasols at the beach and both pools, but you can book a cabana or daybeds with differing bundles of food, drink and service. Culture is served up at Baha Mar’s art gallery and studio space, the Current, which offers workshops, exhibitions and hosts artists in residence. Explore it on a group, art-themed Hussey Tour, and learn about Nassau’s creative heritage, try your hand at printmaking and round off with champagne in Café Boulud, where you’re surrounded by some of the hotel’s art collection. Tennis and golf are the big hitters, sports wise, with a nine-court racquet centre and pro shop, as well as a full-size 18-hole golf course and family friendly miniature version. As a Rosewood guest, you have access to Baha Mar’s bocce ball and basketball courts, as well as a croquet lawn. The Kitchen is Baha Mar’s culinary venue for kids’ cook-ups, family cookery workshops, demos and masterclasses, and there are wine tastings at Café Boulud, and mezcal sampling at Costa. To take you further afield, the hotel’s concierge team has an intriguing smörgåsbord of tours: choose from deep-sea fishing, a private yacht charter to Exuma, Rose Island and Eleuthera; excursions to track down sea lions and dolphins, or turtles and swimming pigs. Take a guided city tour of Nassau or sign up for an around-the-island adventure by ATV (quad-bike). Spa treatments, pilates and yoga (with or without birdlife) provide serene contrast.

You’re unlikely to venture much further than Rosewood Baha Mar’s dining spots, but in the wider Baha Mar resort there are a further 40 restaurants and bars at hand. We’re tempted by the Asian-Latino plates at Cinkō (grilled-meat platters, Nikkei ceviche, and Korean barbecue tacos); the cocktails-and-brunch vibes at gastropub the Swimming Pig, and the elegant surroundings and refined Italian fare at Fi’lia.
Local cafés
Café Madeleine is a Parisian-style coffee spot and bakery at the Grand Hyatt. All the way from Harlem, Streetbird serves Caribbean- and South-American-inspired street food out of a lurid-blue trailer on the boulevard – ideal for a freshly-cooked takeaway lunch on the beach.
Local bars
Mezcal tastings at Costa or cocktails at Manor Bar are hard to beat, but for Mai Tais on the roof at sunset, head to the sofa-dotted wooden-decked Sky Bar at SLS. Baha Mar’s go-to night spot is Bond (also at the SLS) – the place to head for hand-crafted cocktails and DJ sets till late.
