Dreaming of modern Danish design combined with pristine historic Scandinavian architecture? Meet the Nobis Hotel Copenhagen, a flawless city stay that ticks all your Nordic boxes: clean lines, sleek style, inventive dining and an enviable spot over the road from the Tivoli Gardens.
Get this when you book through us:
A selection of local sweets in your room, and daily free bike rental throughout your stay (usually worth DKK250 a bike, each day)
Rooms on every side of the building overlook atmospheric city rooftops, but our favourites are those on the higher floors, for a little more seclusion and distance from the lobby. (We particularly love the Penthouse rooms for their vast windows.)
Don’t forget your camera/pastels/paints, or whatever other visual medium you prefer: Nobis is all clean lines, high ceilings and natural light, and you’ll want to document every glorious angle.
Public areas are wheelchair accessible, and two Superior rooms have been adapted for wheelchair users.
Accepted, but not particularly catered to. Extra beds are 450DKK a night (for guests of all ages), breakfast is 95DKK (for children 12-and-under); a limited number of free cots for under-2s are available on request.
Nab a spot by the window to watch the world go by. At breakfast, park yourself as close to the buffet as possible: the food is just that good.
To fit in with the decor, go for something sleek and slinky. Pull your coolest, most classic pieces, and ditch anything even vaguely fussy.
Stylish restaurant Noi is in the 1960s annex, which Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh has encased in glass and copper plates. Inside, a deep-blue floor and black marble bar are offset by pale-wood Danish tables, which are lit from above by dangling pendant lights. Helmed by Frederik Sandberg, the kitchen team prepare a range of large and small plates that span the full breadth of European cuisine, including monkfish with lemon thyme and beked swede, mussels with leek and oyster mayonnaise, and roast duck. Noi is closed on Sunday and Monday, but you'll be able to order from the bar menu instead, which is influenced by the restaurant's cuisine.
Sip pre-dinner cocktails or enjoy a nightcap at the suave Marble Bar, which shares the space with restaurant. In spring and summer, order your drink to the terrace.
Breakfast is served from 6.30am to 10.30am (8am to 11am on Saturday and Sunday). Noi serves dinner from 6pm to midnight, Tuesday to Saturday. The kitchen closes at 10pm from Tues to Thurs, and 11pm on Fri and Sat. The bar is open daily from 11am to 11pm.
Have snacks or full meals from the restaurant menu delivered to your room whenever you like, day or night.
Nobis is right opposite Tivoli Gardens, in possibly the most visitor-convenient location in the city.
Touch down at Copenhagen International Airport, 20 minutes from Nobis by car. On request, the Smith24 team can help to arrange international flights.
Trains Copenhagen’s Central Train Station is just a three-minute car ride away, and has connections throughout Europe.
Valet parking is available on-site, from DKK450. Strolling, biking and boating are more leisurely ways to get around town, but if you do plan on doing lots of driving, contact the Smith team to rent a car.
Worth getting out of bed for
You’re in Scandinavia, so a trip to the in-house sauna is a must. But once you’re done getting steamy, Copenhagen’s coolest spots are nearby. If you can drag yourself back across Nobis’ elegant threshold you’ll find plenty to explore outside; avail yourselves of the hotel’s rental bikes to get around. (There’s a bike trail that starts by the Fisketorvet mall.) Prefer to see the city from the water? Rent a Go Boat and hit the canal (stop off at Copenhagen Street Food, Hal 7 and 8 Papirøen, Trangravsvej 14, for lunch).
If you’ve packed your wallet full of plenty of krone, The Apartment – overlooking the canal – is an incredible show room bursting with Danish design delights. Make an appointment in advance.
Hungry? Try some Danish tapas at Pate Pate in the meatpacking district, where both the food and wine are excellent. Or, Almanak serves truly delicious open sandwiches by the harbour.
Every hotel featured is visited personally by members of our team, given the Smith seal of approval, and then anonymously reviewed. As soon as our reviewers have returned from this boutique hotel in Copenhagen and unpacked their coffee-table design books, a full account of their city break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside Nobis Hotel in Copenhagen…
When you combine the historic elegance of the former Royal Danish Conservatory of Music with the modern genius of Swedish star architect Gert Wingårdh, you end up with something rather gorgeous. Nobis Hotel Copenhagen’s stately edifice, which dates back to 1903, is a pleasingly imposing spot that more than holds its own amid its impressive neighbours (on its doorstep are several of the Danish capital’s classic architectural delights: Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen Central Station, City Hall Square and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek museum). Arriving here feels like an event in itself.
Inside, updated Nordic style abounds and melds perfectly with the original features: modern colour schemes adorn historic curlicues and cornices, grey marble floors complement pale peach leather sofas, and the charming staff deliver five-star service while wearing blue suede trainers. Every room is spacious and flooded with natural light. With such sumptuous surroundings, it’d be easy to stay on-site, loitering by the bar feeling chic. But the best of Copenhagen awaits nearby…
Whenever you book a stay at a Smith hotel or villa, we’ll invite you to review it when you get back. Read what other Smith members had to say in Nobis Hotel Copenhagen’s Guestbook below.
The hotel is perfectly nestled in the centre of town, everything can be easily reached on foot or by bike. The breakfast is wonderful. The rooms are modern and stylish in a wonderful historic building.
The bikes are quite heavy and could use some maintenance.

Spent three nights at the Nobis celebrating my wife's 50th birthday, and had the most fantastic time here. The room was extremely tasteful, comfortable and with just the right amount of luxury. Hotel staff were without exception, exceptional! Receptionists, restaurant staff, bell-boy – all really genuinely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was relaxing, with fresh produce and a great selection. We ate one night in the restaurant and it also didnt disappoint. And when they learnt it was my wifes birthday, we also got a lovely gift as well. A really, really good quality hotel. Thank you.
Loud and brash hotel bar, massive fitness centre or big hotel chain treatment – you won't find them here!

The hotel – the décor, the staff, the breakfast, it's location! We went to celebrate my mum's 60th and were treated to a bottle of Tattinger champagne and truffles upon arrival – so thoughtful and welcoming. Couldn't recommend the hotel enough. The room was lovely and the bed incredibly comfy. We couldn't have wanted any more.
Nothing is too much!

The building, the decor and the location but mostly the staff. Without any exceptions, they were all extremely welcoming, helpful and took time to personally engage with us.
Anything flashy or any bling. The Nobis Hotel is the epitome of understated, beautifully designed luxury and comfort.

The cool vibe – beautifully proportioned rooms with luxurious furniture in typically classy Scandi style. Fantastic location – so close to everything but a few steps from the bustle and lights of the Tivoli and thus a quiet escape.

Service, style, comfort, food, basically everthing! The hotel is perfectly located to explore the city. We would thoroughly recommend using the hotel bikes as this is the best way to see the city. The rooms are extremely stylish and well equipped. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had and overall the food in the restaurant was great. The hotel also has a small spa which is great for a spot of relaxation. Would definitely come back her for another city break.
A full food menu on Sunday night.

The hotel is newly opened, and stunning in design. The team could not have been more helpful. Wonderfully warm welcome, and helpful in every way. Excellent advice on what to do (even on a rainy day!), where to go, where to eat. The weekend breakfast buffet is sensational – best ever, anywhere. The bedroom and bathroom are super stylish, and extremely comfortable and quiet. Good location for walking into the centre of town. Overall best impression: the staff. Big thank you from us.
Copenhagen is really compact, so very easy for walking around.
