This 65sq m suite is the jewel in the hotel’s crown. The ornate ceiling (which is one of the hotel’s finest) made it impossible to add an internal walls, so designer Jacques Garcia divided the room with a vast silk screen instead, separating the bedroom and living area from the bathroom. On the bedroom side, there’s a super-king-size bed and a lounge area with a velvet sofa, armchairs, a chaise longue and a leather desk. The room is also home to one of the hotel’s most impressive fireplaces, a showpiece of wrought iron, decorative tile and carved wooden panelling. An original bas relief is set into the wall above it, adding a further historic flourish. Clad in mirrors, the marble-floored bathroom has stained glass windows, a deep freestanding soaking tub and a walk-in rainfall shower. The L’oscar Suite also has free WiFi; a flatscreen TV; a minibar with free soft drinks and water; 24-hour butler service; yoga mats; a daily copy of The Times; and his-and-hers bath products made by perfumer Roja Dove.
