Our favourite rooms
It’s a tough call. The Locanda rooms and suites sit high on the hill, with serene views over the wild, wide-open landscape. Of these, we’re partial to the Locanda Superior — its bathroom features a slatted sliding screen, so you can soak in the tub while gazing out past the terrace. For more space and privacy, the Bungalows deliver, giving Smiths of all ages room to sprawl.
Poolside
Carved into the stony hillside, the heated pool is a rock-flanked jewel. Deckchairs and umbrellas edge it, from which you can drink in not only cocktails, but panoramic views, too. Open between 6am until 10pm daily. There are two heated indoor pools in the spa: a plunge pool and a larger one, framed by a partial-glass wall — ideal for taking in vistas while bathing.
Spa
Fasano’s spa is tucked discreetly into the landscape, all warm wood, soft stone and hush-hush tranquillity. Treatments lean toward the restorative, with skilled hands offering deep-tissue massages, facials and bespoke therapies. As well as two heated pools, there’s a sauna, and steam room for lingering post-treatment, plus views so serene they feel medicinal.
Packing tips
Linen layers, chic swimwear and your most effortless eveningwear — this is relaxed refinement, not resort-flash. Leave the heels; bring the good sunglasses.
Pet‐friendly
Up to two of your furry friends can join you in any room for BRL350 a week for each pup, provided they weigh less than seven kilogrammes and have an updated vaccination card. See more pet-friendly hotels in Punta del Este.
Children
All ages are very welcome. There is a kids' club, a family-friendly farm and a good choice of activities to suit little Smiths.
Best for
All ages are welcome, but juniors old enough to enjoy Fasano’s outdoor pursuits will most enjoy a sojourn here.
Recommended rooms
Villas Fasano each sleep six and have oodles of space for your clan.
Crèche
There's a kids’ club beside the spa, staffed by professionals and offering supervised play, interactive games and creative sessions.
Activities
The seasonal beach club is bound to be a hit with younger Smiths; water-wise juniors will love kayaking on the Maldonado, and La Barra’s beaches should be on your radar, too. Las Piedras Farm has livestock to coo over and is well set up for an enjoyable family outing.
Swimming pool
The outdoor pool is child-friendly and junior swimmers will need adult supervision; the indoor pools are reserved for adults.
Meals
Locanda and Las Piedras are laidback, family-friendly options, with child-pleasing fare, and highchairs, subject to availability.
Babysitting
There's no babysitting; Fasano Punta del Este is more of a family affair.
Sustainability efforts
At Fasano Punta del Este, sustainability is treated less like a campaign and more like a quiet principle. The architecture makes minimal fuss, both in terms of materials and design that lets the landscape do the talking — natural stone, glass and timber are sourced regionally to avoid unnecessary freight miles. Energy use is trimmed through a mix of motion sensors and climate-control systems smart enough to know when to take a break. In the kitchen, a farm-to-table philosophy isn’t just lip service: menus are driven by what’s fresh, local, and available, with surplus ingredients reinvented in new dishes. Single-use plastics have been quietly retired and replaced with biodegradable amenities. Even the furniture gets a second act, repurposed or donated rather than binned. Add composting, textile reuse, and a full-scale recycling system, and you start to get the sense that, here, luxury is less about excess and more about knowing when not to take too much.
