When to go

In July and August, temperatures soar and Cortona is at its most populous. The weather is still pleasantly warm from April to June and September to mid-November, and the town should be a little quieter, too.

Getting there

  • Planes

    The nearest international airport is Perugia’s San Francesco d'Assisi, around an hour’s drive from Cortona. Florence Airport is around 90 minutes away, and from Rome’s airport, it’s about three hours by car.

  • Trains

    Camucia–Cortona train station is a 10-minute drive away; Terontola-Cortona station is closer to 15 minutes from the hotel by car. Both have regular Trenitalia services from Florence, Rome and other Italian cities.

  • Automobiles

    Cortona is a pleasantly walkable town, but you’ll want your own wheels for exploring the surrounding Tuscan countryside.
