When to go

January through March see warm temperatures and next-to-no rainfall (often none at all, in fact). Other times of year are quieter: May and June are good months to hit the waves, or head here in November – after spending Day of the Dead in Mexico city, perhaps – for a much-needed mezcal detox.

Getting there

• Planes

  San José del Cabo Airport, to the south, is Baja’s busiest and best-connected airport, with routes stretching all over the US and Canada. La Paz International, to the north, is typically a little quieter and more expensive. Both airports are just over an hour drive from Todos Santos.

• Automobiles

  You’ll want a car to properly explore the nearby landscapes – but go fully-comp for peace of mind down the dirt roads. For those arriving by plane, rental cars are plentiful in Los Cabos and La Paz. Note that the most convenient routes often include toll roads, and they are cash only (Pesos or USD).
