Also
The hotel has some ground-floor rooms, but unfortunately this historic property is not suitable if you use a wheelchair.
At the hotel
Free WiFi throughout, and bikes to borrow. In rooms: Nespresso coffee machine, tea-making kit, minibar with complimentary soft drinks, free bottled water, bathrobes, slippers and Le Labo bath products.
Our favourite rooms
Take the plunge on Santiago (the Presidential Suite), which comes with its own patio and pool, as well as a red-marble bath.
Poolside
Dip in the cool of a large courtyard, where a heated pool (open from 8am to 8pm) is fringed by palms, then retire to your striped sunlounger and the shade of a tasseled parasol. Little Smiths will love the super-shallow end for paddling, although it’s the pool bar’s menu of sips and bites where you’ll want to do most of your splashing.
Spa
There’s no wellness space at the hotel, but in partnership with a local spa, you can enjoy health and beauty services in the comfort of your own (or another) hotel room. A one-hour deep tissue massage is MXN2,700, for example.
Packing tips
An underwater video camera, for shooting your efforts in the epic waves.
Children
All ages are welcome: there’s a choice of rooms that sleep four and babysitting can be arranged, subject to availability, 24 hours’ notice, and an extra charge.
