Luxury holidays in Shropshire

In the early 19th century, this peachy patch of the West Midlands was a lively place to be: home to the world’s first cast-iron bridge, little Charles Darwin’s schooldays, and the sporting games in Much Wenlock that would set the modern Olympics in motion. These days, the county is a calmer proposition. Shoppers shuttle around the market towns, and golfing, horse-riding or hiking is about as industrious as it gets – that or cogitating over which Michelin-starred restaurant to dine in.
