Luxury holidays in Nicosia

The island capital of Nicosia is about as far from Ayia Napa as you can get — and we don’t mean geographically… For starters, it’s not seasonal, but entices year-round with a Venetian-walled Old Town, tumultuous history to get acquainted with, and co-ordinates along the Green Line between North and South. Wander the city’s ancient lanes, browse its shops and museums; enjoy island-sourced dining at family-run tavernas, and dip into days along the coast — till-dawn clubbing, optional.

When to go

Cyprus is a year-round destination, but sees more visitors between May and October. For Nicosia’s historic sights and diminutive dining and drinking spots, the quieter, cooler winter months come into their own.

Getting there

  • Planes

Nicosia is around an hour’s drive from Larnaca International Airport and approximately two hours from Paphos International Airport.
  • Automobiles

Finding parking is the main barrier to driving — especially if you’re staying within the city’s Old Town. But a set of wheels may come in handy for exploring the sun-kissed countryside and Med-lapped coast beyond the city walls.
