Mr & Mrs Smith

We love to walk and decided to make use of the back carrier we brought with us, to take our 7 month old baby hiking. We drove up to the plateau about 40 minutes from the villa and parked up a few villages before the cave where Zeus was born. Our walk took us along the road to the cave (not for the faint-hearted in 30 plus heat) and up into the cave. The destination itself was disappointing, having seen many other more grand and beautiful caves in New Zealand. But the views were sensational and we stopped at the top to feed our little one his lunch. The highlight of the day was late lunch at a taverna on the walk back, where pork was roasting on an open fire by the roadside. We were easily persuaded to stop when the owner insisted we try a slice, along with his mantra "you don't like, you don't pay". We loved! And they bought us dessert on the house. It was situated just before the turn off to the cave - on the left hand side. You can't miss it, the open fire was right on the roadside.
