Countryside Villa Balafia is a beautifully refurbished hideaway in the central part of northern Ibiza, with a smattering of the island’s best beaches just short drive away. Clean lines, white walls, and exposed-beam ceilings that have been polished to shine give the open-plan villa a refreshingly modern face. This homey stay has mod-rustic wood furnishings, minimalist decor and sweeping views of the tree-dotted countryside. Four of the bedrooms are set within the open-plan, split level villa, and three more open directly onto the pool terrace, where the large saltwater pool takes centre stage. The outdoor terraces are set for leisurely entertaining and drawn-out meals; one even has a fully-equipped alfresco kitchen with a wood-fired barbecue. We can already picture our wine-in-hand breezy evenings…

  • Inside, this spacious, light filled stay is a homey island hideaway with interior design by local La Maison Blanche. Modern furnishings and accents have been artfully intertwined with the villa’s original features.
  • The living room has exposed-beam ceilings and a large, cream-coloured L-shaped sofa and a wall mounted TV. The room is partially open-plan to the dining area and kitchen, which are on the other side of the dual-sided open fireplace.
  • The modern dining room has a long wooden table that seats up to 10 guests; twin chandeliers hang overhead.
  • Barn-style doors open to the kitchen, which is simple, but fully-equipped and has ample storage space and direct access to the pool terrace.

  • Bedroom 5 (13sq m) has a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. It’s the closest room to the outdoor kitchen, and has direct access to the pool terrace.
  • Bedroom 6 (13sq m) has a direct access to the pool terrace, a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
  • Bedroom 7 (13sq m) has a direct access to the pool terrace and its own outdoor seating area with a table and chairs; it’s the closest room to the Balinese bed on the pool terrace. Inside, there’s a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
