Like a warming cup of hot chocolate, House Hannes Schneider brings the après ski glow. Named after the turn-of-the-century local known as the father of modern skiing (his statue stands just outside), this slopeside chalet is a mix of Alpine kitsch and modern living. Floors and ceilings are clad in wood, bold modern art and black-and-white family photographs – of the owner’s gold medal-winning ski champ father, naturally – line the walls, and faux fur throws are draped over plump armchairs. The bedrooms – there are six, and all with ensuite bathrooms – are on the top two floors of this split-level townhouse; the modern kitchen, cosy living room and a private spa with a hot tub and sauna are on the ground floor. Pass the bobble hats – we’re heading to Austria.
