Axel Aurejac - The Shell and the Spoon, 2026

A surreal composition that nods to the simple pleasures of beachside days, captured at Zannier Île de Bendor, a private Mediterranean island retreat off the Provençal coast, captured by photographer Axel Aurejac. The original work was presented at Mr & Mrs Smith’s debut exhibition, To Seek, To Find, at Frieze London in October 2026. 

The exhibition’s curator, Brandei Estes, says: ‘There is a straightforward cinematic style to Axel Aurejac’s work, although there’s a natural light and a delicate intimacy that is not overly constructed.’ 

About the artist: Axel Aurejac is a French photographer and director whose work has been published in Vogue France, M Le Monde and Harper’s Bazaar France. He was shortlisted for the Picto Prize for Fashion Photography in 2020 and the Hyères Festival competition in 2022.
