Star chef Merlin Labron-Johnson grew up in Devon, but left to work in the kitchens of Michelin-starred restaurants all around the world, including In De Wulf in Belgium. He returned to the UK in 2014 and launched Portland, which earnt a star within nine months of opening, all by the tender age of 24. Next came Clipstone in Fitzrovia, approved by the late AA Gill and Jay Rayner; before he settled in Somerset and opened the equally acclaimed Osip, alongside a wine bar and bistro called The Old Pharmacy.
