Howard Marks
Bon vivant
Howard’s experience of overnight accommodation was singular, following several years as an international fugitive staying in five-star hotels throughout south-east Asia; then nine years in European and United States prisons as documented in his book, and later the film, Mr Nice. He contributed written travel articles for The Observer, Time Out, and The Daily Telegraph on South America and the Caribbean.
