Tiki-topped villas

West of Nevis

Situated on 10-acre, private estate of just a handful of villas, Paradise Beach’s Four Bedroom Ocean Villa is the jewel in the Caribbean crown. This Balinese-inspired, thatched-roof villa is in prime position, stumbling distance from the beach and bar (reassuring knowledge once you’ve sampled the Planter’s Spicy Rum Punch). Hidden behind high walls, it feels very private: you have your own tropical garden, terrace and pool. If you can’t bear to miss a minute of your ocean views, wraparound floor-to-ceiling glass hurricane doors open along the whole back wall of the villa. Head to any number of local restaurants serving Nevisian cuisine, or consultant the estate’s concierge for the services of a private chef, who can whip up grilled snapper in the kitchen or a barbecue feast on the outdoor grill.

First Glance

  • The villa is set on a private estate, accessed by a high security gate. It’s at the end of the row of villas and is steps from the beach.
  • Built in Balinese style, the thatched-roof villa has a natural wood frame and over 315sq m of inside space.
  • Ocean views are all the more enticing thanks to the large windows and glass hurricane doors which lead out to the swimming pool and terrace.
  • Set on one storey, each of the four bedrooms leads off the main living room. Furnished with comfortable grey sofas in an open-plan living space, the main room has an built-in kitchen, a breakfast bar and a dining table and chairs seating eight.
  • The kitchen has a hob, oven, fridge, freezer and dishwasher, so the cooking (and clearing up) is a breeze if you choose to self-cater.
  • Downstairs there’s a separate small bathroom and a well-equipped laundry with a washing machine and tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.
  • Though there’s no actual gym, there’s a small side room off the main living area with gym equipment including a TRX suspension system, yoga mat and dumbbells.

Villa highlights

  • Exclusive gated development
  • Secluded sandy beach
  • Duo of refreshing pools

Sleeping arrangements

  • All of the bedrooms are accessed from the main living space and are of a similar size; there are two rooms with king-size beds and two with queen-size beds that can be made up as twins.
  • The two queen bedrooms are at the front of the villa; each has a view of the garden from a private balcony. Both rooms have their own ensuite bathroom with a bath tub, Hermès bath products, robes and slippers. Both rooms also have a flatscreen TV.
  • At the back of the villa are the two master bedrooms, both with four-poster king-size beds. These bedrooms have ocean views and look over the pool and terrace through floor-to-ceiling glass hurricane doors which open out onto the pool area. Each has a walk-in closet, plus an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower, twin sinks and a separate outdoor shower screened from view. There are Hermès bath products and robes and slippers in the bathroom, and a flatscreen TV in the bedroom.

  • The unheated, saltwater pool is set within the terrace, surrounded by loungers and chairs. There’s also a separate plunge pool off to the left-hand side.
  • Set with smooth pebbles, the pool is lit up after dark. There’s a thatched cabana with a dining table and chairs on the far side of the pool overlooking the ocean.

  • There’s space to park your car at the front of the villa.
  • To the rear, there’s a large terrace for sunbathing, where you’ll find the two pools, a cabana, barbecue and seating.

  • Nevis is a petite island, so nothing’s further than a 30-minute drive from the villa. Paradise Beach is 15 minutes’ drive from the airport and 10 minutes‘ drive from the capital, Charlestown.
  • The villa is the closest to the beach within the estate, just steps from the sand. The beach has loungers, umbrellas and a pool bar that’s open from 10am–sunset. It offers a short menu of snacks and drinks. Non-motorised watersports equipment is available to borrow, including snorkels and paddleboards.
  • To get to there, you’ll need to fly into St Kitts and take a water taxi or ferry across to Nevis, just two miles away across the Narrows – a strait of water between the two islands. Alternatively, there’s the option to fly to one of the larger Caribbean Islands, such as Antigua. Here you’ll be able to fly to Nevis’ tiny airport, Vance W. Amory International.
  • If you fancy a meal out the nearest restaurant is a short drive away, but there’s a food truck serving traditional Nevisian cuisine opposite the entrance to the estate. It comes highly recommended by the locals.
