Uga Prāva offers half-board and all-inclusive rates, both of which include a range of soft and alcoholic drinks served during set hours. Rates include concierge services from a dedicated suite host.
Also
All of the suites and common areas at Uga Prāva are wheelchair accessible, thanks to a lift that runs from the pool level to the lower and upper suites. The beach is harder to access for those with reduced mobility, as it involves descending a set of stairs set into the cliffside.
At the hotel
Private beach (not suitable for swimming), free WiFi throughout and paid laundry service. In rooms: TV, sound system, minibar, climate control, ceiling fan, tea- and coffee-making kit, free bottled water, bathrobes, slippers and local bath products.
Our favourite rooms
All seven suites are kitted out in soothing neutrals, with chalk-white walls, wood and rattan furnishings, and fabrics in soft coastal hues. This minimalist aesthetic heightens the vivid blues and greens outside, which are especially impressive in the Horizon Suites, which have vast, ocean-facing picture windows running the length of the room (there’s one beside the bath tub, too). For more outdoor space, plump for a Hermit Suite, each of which has a furnished terrace and a Jacuzzi.
Poolside
Uga Prāva’s 41-metre infinity pool is a showstopper. Flush with the lawns on one side and edged by a steep drop on the other, it plays with perspective to masterful effect, creating sightlines that flow from the pool’s surface to the Indian Ocean on the horizon. There’s a palm-shaded terrace on the landward side and sunloungers are arranged along its ocean-facing edge, ensuring front row seats at sunset.
Spa
There’s a small, soothingly dressed spa with two treatment rooms, one of which is for couples. It’s staffed by nimble-fingered Balinese therapists who offer an extensive menu of treatments, including massages, facials, turmeric and sandalwood body scrubs, ginger and honey body wraps, and botanical hair treatments. They make liberal use of Sri Lankan products, including locally sourced tropical herbs, coconut oil and sea salt. Private yoga and meditation classes can be arranged on request, and there’s a compact gym.

Pet‐friendly

Children
All ages are welcome, but not especially catered for. The two-bedroom Coral Suites are designed for families, with one king-size bed and two singles. For an additional charge, an extra bed can be added to a Horizon Suite.
Sustainability efforts
Uga Prāva uses low-flow water fixtures, has on-site waste-water treatment, and uses light sensors and motion detectors to limit electricity use. The restaurant supports local fishermen and small-scale farmers and producers. The Uga Resorts brand has a social development fund, which supports women’s educational opportunities and the development of female entrepreneurs; has established seven water plants, bringing clean drinking water to over 1,000 Sri Lankan families; and supports the conservation of 70 elephants.
