Our favourite rooms

Ocean-gazing terraces and calming, contemporary interiors are constants wherever you decide to rest. Suites are the humblest of the range, but still come bedecked with furnished outdoor areas, functional wet bars and some with their own private plunge pools. For extra space to settle, villas span multiple floors and tout full kitchens; or, splash out for a residence and you'll have your own infinity-edge pool, direct access to the ocean, at least one guest casita and a wealth of living areas.

Poolside

The Strand's central saltwater pool welcomes all ages and watches over the water from its sun-drenched perch, open for laps and lounging from 8am to 10pm. For private paddles, most villas and suites come with their own plunge or small swimming pools, and each residence has its own infinity-edge pool.

Spa

There’s no spa, but in-room treatments can be arranged on request, at an extra cost.

Packing tips

Cooper Jack Bay’s clear waters mean snorkels aren’t a necessity, but for a closer look at its tropical residents we’d suggest a pair.

Hotel restaurant

You’ll likely have its coastal setting figured out once you hear the name, but if your Spanish isn’t quite up to par, allow us to paint a picture: DelMar is the hotel’s all-day eatery, set in a breezy beachfront spot with menus that follow the tide from breakfast through dinner. Chefs haul fishermens’ daily catch from the dock each morning, transforming their fresh flavor into elevated international favorites come afternoon and evening. Breakfasts are a little more traditional: egg-topped muffins and tortillas, omelets, smoked salmon bagels and creamy avocados sit alongside sweeter classics like waffles and French toast.

Hotel bar

There’s no separate bar here, but you’ll find all the classic cocktails, spirits, wines and beers on DelMar’s drinks’ menu. You’re also welcome to order straight to your beach or poolside lounger during the day.

Last orders

Breakfast is 7am to 11am, lunch is served between noon and 4pm, and dinner is from 5.30pm to 9.30pm with drinks until 11pm.

Set back from the main resort area, The Strand Turks and Caicos sits on Providenciales’ quieter south-central coast, in Cooper Jack Bay.

Planes

Howard Hamilton International Airport is a 15-minute drive away and the island’s main landing strip, with direct flights from around the States, Canada, Caribbean and UK. Private transfers can be arranged on request for US$150 each way.

Automobiles

The Strand’s more secluded setting makes a car appealing if you’re planning on exploring. There’s free private parking on-site, and residences have their own garages with space for up to two cars.

If you’re arriving by boat, the hotel has its own marina on Cooper Jack Bay, where you're welcome to dock after passing through one of the island’s official ports.

Worth getting out of bed for

Despite your serene setting, there’s plenty of adventure to be had on this idyllic island. The ocean feels the most natural place to start, with kayaking, paddleboarding and private boat tours all particularly scenic ways to explore Cooper Jack Bay’s cerulean-cast waters. Landlubbers will find their feet with guided garden walks, or perhaps during a rally on the tennis, pickleball or volleyball courts. Grace Bay’s bustle is 15 minutes away by car; or for those more content in the calm, yoga classes are hosted on the beach most mornings and spa treatments can be arranged on request. And if you’re overcome with choice, the talented concierge team can curate schedules (or lack of) to your preferences.

Local restaurants

You’re unlikely to leave this secluded spot on the south coast, but should you want to venture out for the evening, Grace Bay and its abundance of eateries are a 15-minute drive away.

If you know of anywhere on this Caribbean isle, it’s probably Grace Bay and the long stretch of sand that adorns almost every souvenir stand on Provo. But all postcards have their flip side — and The Strand Turks and Caicos has arrived to put its stamp on the lesser-known south coast.

Fronted by a canvas of blues from the Caicos Banks, the considered design takes cues from its surroundings and ensures every aspect watches the water. Suites and villas admire its cerulean expanse from private terraces — plunge pools feature on some, deep-soaking tubs on others. Residences are set up for longer stays, where private pools, courtyard casitas and rockside steps lead straight into the ocean. Seclusion isn’t all that makes this picture pretty, though: a sustainably minded ethos brings freshly caught fish and organic produce to the foreground at the beachfront restaurant; and boat trips, scuba sessions and watersports await should the sea’s siren song prove too strong.
