TFL (Transport For London) hasn’t been hailed as a style icon till now – designer Shawn Hausman found inspiration in its colour palettes and seat upholstery when creating these Seventies-style rooms. Purples, blues and reds, mahogany panelling and curvaceous furnishings give these 20–25sq m rooms plenty of character. There’s a window seat and workspace, queen-size bed, flatscreen TV and Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker, plus a minibar, tea- and coffee-making kit, and free WiFi. The retro-fabulous bathroom is tiled in maroon and pink, and has a walk-in shower, custom Craig Green bathrobes and sustainable Davines products.

Premium King

  • 2guests
For these rooms, designer Shawn Hausman picked a palette of aubergine, scarlet and blue, partly inspired by London Underground’s snazzy seat covers. The 33–37sq m rooms have bay seating, two red wardrobes and a king-size bed in the centre of the room, covered with an Edinburgh-wool throw. There’s a flatscreen TV, Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker, minibar with gourmet treats, tea- and coffee-making kit, and free WiFi. The bathroom will make you look, too, with its black-and-pink tiles, bath tub with a wooden rest for drinks and such, walk-in shower and custom robes by hip Brit designer Craig Green, plus sustainable Davines products.

Deluxe King

With carpets inspired by the Tube’s seat covers, and decor that harks back to the hotel’s 1970s tenure as Camden Town Hall, these 25–33sq m rooms are bold and fun in shades of blue, red and purple. There’s a sitting/dining area, workspace and a king-size bed dressed in fancy linens and an Edinburgh-wool blanket. A minibar is filled with gourmet snacks and drinkables, there’s a flatscreen TV, Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker, free WiFi, and tea- and coffee-making kit. The bathroom is stylishly tiled in black and pink, with a bath tub or walk-in shower, custom Craig Green bathrobes and sustainable Davines bath products.

Premium King View Room

  • 2guests
These spacious 33–37sq m rooms come with cosy bay windows that watch out over the city's skyline. Inside, you'll have a king-size bed, sitting area and a bathroom with a walk-in shower and separate bath tub. Additional amenities include free WiFi, a Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker, minibar and custom bathrobes.

Studio Suite

  • 2guests
These 32–39sq m rooms are set on the ninth floor and can claim the best views in the house (as long as Gilbert Scott’s Gothic redbrick tower takes your fancy…). Less vibrantly hued than other rooms, but no less stylish, it’s adopted an understated, Cali-chic, mid-century-modern mix of Scandi-style woods, white walls and linens, leather and check. There’s a king-size bed, flatscreen TV, Bang & Olufsen speaker, gourmet minibar, tea- and coffee-making kit, and free WiFi, plus some special extras: free trainer cleaning, a Peleton exercise bike brought to your room on request, and personal pick-up from the Eurostar terminal. Some have a freestanding bath tub near the bed and some have a walk-in shower, custom Craig Green bathrobes and sustainable Davines products. This category has space for an extra bed (£50 a night).

Studio Suite Terrace

  • 2guests
Inspired by the Standard’s Cali outpost (and likely its weather, too), these eighth-floor, 28–37sq m rooms have an indoor-outdoor feel, with a peek-a-boo alfresco bath tub and furnished terrace that both look out over King’s Cross. On the inside, the room has Scandi-style woods, leather and natural fabrics, plus mid-century-modern-style furnishings. There’s a sitting area, king-size bed, indoor bathroom with a walk-in shower (and custom Craig Green bathrobes), a gourmet minibar that resembles, well, a bar, tea- and coffee-making kit, Stutterheim raincoats to borrow and techy bits by way of a flatscreen TV and Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker. And, you can have a Peleton exercise bike brought up to your room on request, arrange a personal pick-up from the Eurostar terminal or have your sneakers cleaned for free.

Suite Spot

  • 2guests
Welcome to the Standard’s 80sq m party pad, styled to look like a Cali hideaway. There’s a lounge and bar; a bedroom with a king-size bed; and a sizeable bathroom with a bath tub, vanity counter, custom Craig Green bathrobes and sustainable Davines products. At this level – the ninth floor, precisely – you get killer views of London’s skyline, and some special extras: a Peleton exercise delivered to your room on request, personal pick up from the Eurostar terminal, special minibar treats and even free sneaker cleaning. Plus, there’s a flatscreen TV, Bang & Olufsen Bluetooth speaker, Stutterheim raincoats to borrow, a well-stocked minibar, tea- and coffee-making kit, and free WiFi.

Deluxe Studio Suite with Wraparound Terrace

  • 2guests
London gets a dose of California cool in this quirkily hip eighth-floor, 68sq m suite. Interiors have an aesthetically pleasing mish-mash of textures and hues: sage-green leather, trompe l'oeil ‘wood’ panelling, cream shag-pile, grey-veined marble and ox-blood tiles. The 62–64sq m terrace has a table for alfresco dining, sunloungers and seating. Indoors, there’s a king-size bed, bay seating, a breakfast bar, an actual bar (chock full of gourmet treats) and a bathroom with a walk-in shower, custom Craig Green bathrobes and sustainable Davines products. And, you get special extras: Stutterheim raincoats to borrow, a Peleton exercise bike delivered to your room on request, personal pick-up at the Eurostar terminal and free sneaker cleaning.
