More details
Rates include breakfast at your villa, served buffet-style, à la carte or (our favourite) on a floating tray in your private pool. Options include Sri Lankan roti, waffles and pancakes, granola bowls, and any number of fresh smoothies, teas and coffees.
Also
All villas at The Six Weligama have ramp access, and ground floors come with wheelchair-accessible bedrooms (two each in Amed, Kaimu, Kyra and Noosa; one each in Bari and Cies). The upper levels of each villa are reached via stairs only.
At the hotel
In villas: free WiFi, TV, air-conditioning, coffee machine, free minibar, free bottled water, sauna, bathrobes, slippers and locally made bath products. Each fully serviced villa also comes with personalised butler service and a dedicated team of eight staff members.
Our favourite rooms
Not only is Villa Cies at the far end of the beach (meaning you’ll only have neighbours on one side), but it’s also the biggest of the bunch, with a whopping 599 square metres of space. A traditional Sinhalese-inspired veranda provides a focal point for poolside breakfasts, cabana cocktails and dinner under the stars. Bonus: there’s a movie and games room to keep the little Smiths occupied while you kick back with your caipirinha.
Poolside
Your private pool lies a few short steps across the terrace from your lounge area. Slide in for a floating breakfast or have the dedicated mixologist fix you a tipple to sip in the shade of your beach cabana.
Spa
On request, your bedroom can be transformed into a tranquil treatment room, where therapists from a neighbouring spa deliver holistic healing in the form of Swedish, shiatsu, hot stone and Balinese massages.
Packing tips
A good zoom lens for capturing frame-worthy action shots of baby turtles during hatching season (December to May) without crowding them. Otherwise, your personal butler will take care of even the most outlandish requests for forgotten essentials.
Also
Gym kit can be stacked in your villa on request; personal trainers and yoga and meditation sessions can also be arranged, and surfboards are available to rent for a fee. Just ask your butler about any and all of the above.
Pet‐friendly
Dogs aren’t permitted at The Six Weligama. See more pet-friendly hotels in Weligama.
Children
Welcome. Each villa has four bedrooms and baby cots can be added on request. Kids can enjoy movie nights, cooking demos and a rockpool that’s safe for swimming. There’s a children’s menu, and babysitting is available on request.
Sustainability efforts
The Six Weligama takes sustainability seriously: save for the TVs and air-conditioning, everything you’ll find in your villa — furnishings, fabrics, artwork, antique pieces — was made within 30 miles of the resort. Similarly, produce is sourced from nearby suppliers and seafood snared by Sri Lankan fishing boats is always cooked and served the same day. Sensors and LED bulbs in villas help to conserve energy and locally made bath products come in recycled (and recyclable) packaging. A weekly beach clean ensures the shoreline remains safe for wildlife, not least the protected turtles that nest here year-round and hatch young (in their thousands) between December and May.
