This 750sq ft cottage, which sleeps up to two, has a private courtyard with a Moroccan fountain. Inside, you’ll find a spiral staircase up to the loft bedroom with its king-size canopy bed. The custom-made copper bathtub and shower inlaid with handmade Moroccan tiles make ablutions an elegant experience, and the kitchen with its Smeg fridge and vintage O’Keefe & Merritt Stove is cool enough that you’ll be tempted to stay in and cook at least once. The artist-renovated ethos is evident throughout, from the 19th-century doors transported from Corsica to the Sixties touches lending the space a more modern air. The cottage also has a private terrace and private garden, a full kitchen, and in the ensuite bathroom there’s a freestanding bath tub big enough for two and a separate shower.

The fully equipped kitchenette makes lazy nights in a breeze (and the Moccamaster coffee maker might come in handy the morning after), and in the ensuite bathroom behind a partition you’ll find a 1920s pink marble sink and an open shower. An eclectic combination of found objects, outsider art and photography from across the decades makes it an intriguing hideout.
