Brimming with the hotel’s historic nature, this suite housed one of its most eminent guests, King Charles I, in 1694 one night before a battle in the English Civil War. To mark this occasion a coat of arms hangs over the suite’s fireplace. Decor is stylishly traditional with an antique wooden four-poster bed (topped a bespoke mattress made in Devon), the lounge is studded with period features and antique furnishings, and the bathroom has a walk-in shower and separate bath tub. This suite is also suitable for families because it has one double sofa bed and the possibility of an additional extra bed, subject to charges.
