More details

Rates at The Anam Cam Ranh include a buffet breakfast of international and Vietnamese options, served at the Indochine Restaurant.

Also

The Anam Cam Ranh is not significantly adapted, but there is one Deluxe Room that has been modified for wheelchair access and paths across the resort are wheelchair friendly.

At the hotel

Fitness centre, floodlit tennis court, 18-hole mini golf course, yoga studio, outdoor and 60-seater 3D cinemas, scheduled shuttles into Nha Trang and to/from the airport, and free WiFi throughout. In rooms: air-conditioning, ceiling fan, TV, coffee- and tea-making kit, minibar, fresh fruit, free bottled water, traditional conical hats, beach slippers and bag, bathrobes, slippers and custom bath products.

Our favourite rooms

Larger groups should make a beeline for the two- and three-bedroom hilltop villas. A private pool is an option across several residences and worth splashing out on for its garden privacy, too. Terrace Rooms are our pick of non-pool-toting options, with a corner spot and oodles of space. All rooms at The Anam Cam Ranh are dressed appealingly in sunny seaside hues and flooded with light that beams back at you from polished wood furnishings and prettily tiled floors.

Poolside

The hotel has a trio of freshwater bathing options: a central pool, reserved for adults only, is your go-to for clocking up laps, and flaunts an infinity edge to show off its manicured-lawn and sea views (open from 6am until 8pm). Shade lovers may prefer the foliage-fringed lagoon pool (10am until 6pm). If you can’t decide between saline and fresh dips, the beach pool’s location is primed for both (6am until 8pm) — and its set-up, beside the Beach Club, ensures that sips and bites are only steps from your lounger.

Spa

Set in a cocooning space in the resort’s leafy grounds, the Anam Spa takes a holistic approach to wellness, marrying a consummate menu of therapies with meditative quiet. A sauna, steam room and 10 suites for solo or couple’s treatments are tucked into this sweetly scented, neutral-hued complex. You could opt for one of its many full-body treatments, which include hot stone remedies, wraps and massages; or target specific areas with cranio-sacral sessions or reflexology. (Hopefully you won’t need the ‘After Sun Soother’.)

Packing tips

Swimwear, beachy cover-ups and flip-flops should dominate; a stack of reading material and flamboyance of eyewear for your hand luggage are the secret to relishing relaxation-on-sea.

Also

Sunrise and sunset yoga sessions on the lawn are included with your stay. Or you can up the calorie burn at the fitness centre, which is kitted out with bench presses and free weights, plus resistance and cardio machines.

Children

All ages are welcome; under-12s are charged as children, and babysitting is available on request.

Best for

Babies and up are welcome, but over-fours will have access to the Kids’ Club and are better disposed to enjoy Cam Ranh’s resort frills.

Recommended rooms

Deluxe and Premium rooms and some villas come in twin configurations. Many room types take an extra bed for one junior. Two- and three-bedroom hilltop villas work for larger clans. Baby cots can be added for free to all but the One-Bedroom Pool Villa.

Crèche

Little Smiths aged four to 12 can enjoy supervised play, games and art sessions at the resort’s Kids’ Club; under-fours will need an accompanying adult.

Activities

Fly-and-flop rules apply, with The Anam Cam Ranh’s beachfront setting and pool-toting grounds dominating family downtime. Meet the animals at the resort’s kitchen-garden farm. And settle in for a family movie at the indoor or outdoor cinemas. Older children will love the mini-golf course, too.

Swimming pool

The beach and lagoon pools are family-friendly with lifeguard supervision and variable pool depth; only the central pool is reserved for adults. Lifeguards also patrol the beach.

Meals

You'll find children's menus at the resort's dining spots, highchairs (subject to availability) and kitchen staff happy to heat baby food on request.

Babysitting

Childcare with trained professionals can be arranged at extra cost, with notice and subject to availability, through the concierge team (price on application).

No need to pack

Life vests are available to borrow, ensuring a safer swim for little Smiths.

Sustainability efforts

The Anam favours solar power, and water from the laundry is recycled for use in the gardens. The hotel is free from single-use plastics, opting instead for rice-flour straws, FSC-certified wooden key cards and biodegradable bamboo bags. In addition, staff help with scheduled community beach clean-ups.

Food and Drink

Top Table

Graze at a palm-shaded alfresco counter at the Beach Club. Private sea-soundtracked dining, lit by lanterns and framed by a draped gazebo, can be arranged for romantic dinners à deux.

Dress Code

Covered swimwear will pass at the Indochine, Beach Club or Lang Viet by day. The Colonial’s club lounge atmosphere is your cue for something a little more thoughtful. And light tailoring and flowing frocks hit the spot for evenings across resort.

Hotel restaurant

The Anam Cam Ranh’s batch of eateries are dispersed across the resort to suit your mood and itinerary. Near the lobby, dark wood and classical lanterns frame the all-day Indochine Restaurant & Grill, with casual Vietnamese and international plates curated across a clutch of cooking stations. Take a tour of Vietnam's regional cuisines at Lang Viet, which is styled as a traditional lang house in a timbered setting, with sides that open to the breeze and sea views. Where pool meets ocean you’ll find the Beach Club — a day-to-night spot for casual bites and, as the sun drops, candlelit dinners. For selected suite and villa stays, club-lounge the Colonial is your go-to for breakfast à la carte and afternoon tea; it also offers fusion European-Vietnamese fine dining on Wednesday and Friday evenings.

Hotel bar

Our award for best dressed goes to Saigon Bar, where everything from the lantern-strung exposed rafters to the black-and-white photography and artful handcrafted cocktails feels photoshoot-worthy. Its extensive mixologist-made line-up is accompanied by casual plates and light bites: make a date for pineapple margaritas and tuna sashimi on the terrace.

Last orders

Breakfast runs from 7am until 10am; for lunch, it’s noon until 2.30pm; afternoon tea tees off at 2.30pm; dinner hours are 6pm until 10pm. Beach Club opens at 11am; for Lang Viet, you can rock up from noon. Saigon Bar pours till 1am.

Room service

The option to leaf through a dedicated menu and order dishes to your door is available daily between 7am and 1am.

Location

Address
The Anam Cam Ranh
Long Beach
Northern Peninsula Cam Ranh
Vietnam

Cam Ranh is a small coastal town set on a beachy peninsula, a 30-minute drive south from Nha Trang city centre, and lends its name to The Anam Cam Ranh.

Planes

Cam Ranh International is Nha Trang’s airport, just a 15-minute drive from the resort; it’s served by domestic flights, as well as direct international connections within Asia and Central Asia, from South Korea to Kazakhstan. Scheduled resort transfers start at VND50,000 one-way (around US$2), subject to availability. If you’d prefer private transfers, staff can arrange these — with mineral water and cold towels to greet you — from US$15 one-way, depending on the size of vehicle.

Trains

Nha Trang station is on the coastal Reunification Express route between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; from there, it’s a 35-minute drive to the hotel.

Automobiles

Switch driving for resort shuttles, which serve both the airport and central Nha Trang. If you’re intent on bringing a set of wheels, there’s free parking at the resort.

Worth getting out of bed for

With so much to do in-resort at The Anam Cam Ranh, you won’t necessarily want to venture further: beachfront badminton or volleyball games are organised by staff; favoured national pastime kite flying may also lure you off your lounger. Ask the concierge about cookery classes or coconut-leaf crafts for mindful making; you’ll find complimentary sunrise and sunset yoga sessions just as meditative (private tuition can also be arranged). Take to the water in a two-seater canoe or try snorkelling. The hotel has a mini golf course and practice range, plus a floodlit tennis court. Films are shown at the resort’s 60-seater movie theatre and sometimes at an outdoor cinema on the lawn. You can also wander the sprawling kitchen garden and meet its attendant animals.

The concierge team has quite the little black book for local excursions. Topping our list is a picnic and swim at Ba Ho waterfalls; a peek at millennia-old Ponagar Cham Towers, and a trip to soak up the sights and smells of sprawling Cam Duc Market.

Local restaurants

With a handful of eateries to choose from at The Anam Cam Ranh, you're unlikely to dine outside of the resort. However, if you’re heading into Nha Trang, Louisiane Brewhouse is a long-established dining spot for succulent grills and house-brewed ales. Korean barbecue is the order of the day at Veteran. Or, set in a craft village with stalls and boutiques, Nha Trang Xua plates up authentic Vietnamese fare that’s ideal for sharing.

Anonymous review

Every hotel featured is visited personally by members of our team, given the Smith seal of approval, and then anonymously reviewed. As soon as our reviewers have returned from this beachfront bolthole near Nha Trang and unpacked their lacquerware and decorative silk finds, a full account of their Southeast Asian break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside The Anam Cam Ranh in Vietnam…

Anam’s founder Pham Van Hien describes bringing his coastal resorts, Mui Ne and now The Anam Cam Ranh, to his home country as the ‘dream of his life’. Interpret this literally and it was surely a vision that unfolded in green and blue — the pristine palm-studded gardens and abundance of pools are the captivating first act at this all-frills beachfront escape.

But manicured lawns aren’t the only beneficiaries of Anam’s attention to detail:  each lodging here is spacious and sleek, dressed thoughtfully in coastal shades and adorned with Vietnamese artwork. Dining spots across the resort cater to all tastes, from oceanside bites at the Beach Club to trad-Vietnamese plates at Lang Viet and into-the-night cocktails at Saigon Bar. To help you better explore Nha Trang, an expert concierge team organises cultural adventures seamlessly. After a few days here, perhaps the Anam will be the dream of your life, too.
