Setting

Melodic Music City

How did we live without Soho House Nashville? This former sock factory is now Tennessee’s foremost members’ club, with crowds of creatives flocking to its huge pool, several stages and restored jumbo gym. The Soho House staples (a Cecconi’s, a cinema, Sunday feasts) are present and correct, but all with a distinctly southern flavour. There may be no line-dancing but impromptu performances by passing-through country stars have been known to occur (Midland fans, watch this space).

Please note, if you are not a Soho House member, you have the option to add a 12-month Soho Friends membership to your booking for $130. Public rates are also available.

Our favourite rooms

The Big rooms tend to be on a corner, which means double the windows and more city views – some overlook the unofficially named Batman Building (a quick Google and you’ll soon see why) and the oversize guitar outside.

Poolside

The pool is currently the second biggest in the Soho House portfolio, but the group’s incoming Mexico City outpost has its sights on that prize – for now though, enjoy long lengths and day-bed naps between 8am and 8pm. Children are welcome Monday to Thursday until 2pm, and Friday to Sunday until 11am.

Packing tips

If you can play a reasonably sized instrument, bring it along (your talents may not match a country star’s, but you never know when an impromptu performance might break out on one of the many stages).

Also

If you have purchased a Soho Friends membership through Mr & Mrs Smith within the past year, please call our travel team directly to book your Soho Friends member rates. Please note, existing Soho House members should book directly through Soho House.

Children

All ages are welcome; under-21s have access to the club, pool, gardens, cinema and sock room until 7pm, Monday to Thursday and until 4pm, Friday to Sunday. Babysitting can be booked at reception.

Sustainability efforts

It’s reassuring to know that Soho House are working to deliver an environmental impact strategy across their sites. With 2030 goals set to enhance and standardise recycling programmes and responsible food-waste management at every outpost of the member’s club globally. They also work with local suppliers selected for their like-minded responsibility. In the kitchen, there’s scrutiny around how Soho House sources coffee, cocoa and palm oil, as well as sustainable seafood and responsibly reared meat. Expect greater choice of meat-free dishes and seasonal ingredients whenever practical. Measures to assess Soho House’s carbon footprint and reduce emissions are ongoing.

Food and Drink

Top Table

Tablecloth-adorned Cecconi’s is the more formal of the two – for slouchier people-watching, stick to a sofa or snug booth in the Club.

Dress Code

If you really want to fit in, Stetson hats and cowboy boots, though Millennial Creative will also do (stiff suits and ties are a no go).

Hotel restaurant

There are two: The Alley, for smoothies, salads and sandwiches, or a quick coffee, and Club Cecconi’s, for global favourites and some more locally inspired dishes, plus lots of options for vegans and vegetarians. The events calendar keeps members and guests busy with workshops, live music every Thursday night and overflowing buffet feasts every Sunday.

Hotel bar

The Picante is alive and well in Nashville, but other cockle-warmers on the menu include equally intoxicating takes on hot toddies and Irish coffees. The bar is open till 11pm on most weeknights, 1am on Thursday and 2am on Friday and Saturday.

Last orders

Breakfast at the Alley is 7am–11am; an all-day menu takes over until 9pm. Club Cecconi’s is open from 8am to 11pm Sunday to Wednesday; 8am till 1am on Thursday and till 2am on Friday and Saturday, with breakfast 8am–11am, and Sunday brunch 11am–4pm.

Room service

Snacks and more substantial plates can be ordered to your room from 8am until 10pm.

Address
Soho House Nashville
500 Houston Street
Nashville
37203
United States

Soho House Nashville is just outside of the city, in the Wedgewood-Houston neighbourhood, home to factories that have been repackaged for trendier purposes.

Planes

Nashville International is around a quarter of an hour away by car, with bargainous taxis costing around $5 and ride shares available. Direct flights land here from other US cities, including Atlanta, Charleston, Boston and Chicago. Finnair has direct flights from London to Nashville.

Trains

The city’s Amtrak station is also a $5 taxi ride away.

Automobiles

The house is a little outside of the city centre, so it’s wise to bring your own wheels, or depend on easy-to-summon cabs courtesy of a ride-hailing app. There’s parking on-site for guests for an additional fee (hourly or nightly).

Worth getting out of bed for

Soho House Nashville is a couple of miles outside of the city centre, in the about-to-arrive Wedgewood-Houston neighbourhood, once home to several factories, many of which are now studios and other slightly more artistic spaces. In downtown Nashville, your sights should be set on Broadway, which is precisely where to locate a honky-tonk and pretend you’re Johnny Cash. Many country stars have their own bars in this part of town, including Miranda Lambert and Kid Rock. You can acquaint yourself with other country crooners at the city’s Country Music Hall of Fame, or try to get your break busking in the Centennial or Percy Warner parks.

Local restaurants

Locate Nashville’s original hot chicken at Prince’s, which has been seeing to the city’s fiery fried poultry needs for almost a century now. Another Nashville staple is Cafe Roze, at which you can arrive for breakfast and stick around until supper. Germantown’s best pasta can be found at Rolf & Daughters, or for more traditional southern fare, stick to Arnold’s and a classic meat and three.

Local cafés

Find out that a biscuit is definitely not what you think it is in America with a morning pilgrimage to Biscuit Love. Other all-American breakfast goods await at the Pancake Pantry and Dozen Bakery.

Local bars

Early nights should not be on your agenda in Nashville – for live music until late, don’t miss the Electric Jane, Tin Roof and Bowie’s. Attempt to avoid a hangover by sticking to the natural wines (plus sensible small plates) at Lou, hang out at local institution Dino’s dive bar, or imbibe NYC’s legendary craft cocktails at Attaboy in East Nashville.

Every hotel featured is visited personally by members of our team, given the Smith seal of approval, and then anonymously reviewed. As soon as our reviewers have returned from this members’ club-slash-hotel in Tennessee and unpacked their music sheets and melodies, a full account of their well-soundtracked break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside Soho House Nashville…

On arriving at Soho House Nashville, it won’t take you long to realise you’re in Music City (there’s a giant guitar outside, for a start; and the club’s neighbours are Apple Music and Spotify). As with many Soho House spaces, the group likes to get in there early and call a buzzy new area before it’s officially hip – and the Nashville edition, in soon-to-arrive Wedgewood-Houston is a prime example. The neighbourhood’s former factories are now studios, offices and, obviously, craft distilleries. This building was once a hub of sock production (there are net curtains with two black stripes paying homage to a classic chunky sports pair). The club has several stages on which the gifted regularly perform, various terraces and a secret garden that’s no stranger to surprise sets, but downtown Nashville’s honky-tonks and hedonism are hard to beat. Bourbon heads can be soothed with popcorn, cotton candy and gummy bears during a screening at the 60-seat cinema or with carb-loading at Cecconi’s the next day. Even Shania Twain would be impressed.
