Our favourite rooms

Rest is essential to recovery — an ethos Siro Boka Place duly follows: floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of light to help your body sync with its natural circadian rhythm and soundproofed walls allow for deep sleep. In-room workouts in a Siro Mountain View King Room’s fitness area are backdropped by beautiful peaks; get one step closer to the stellar views in a Siro Studio Apartment with its furnished balcony.

Poolside

Like the rest of the hotel, the outdoor pool is designed with an athletic edge: it’s semi-Olympic in size, and peak performance comes in the form of its mountain backdrop. Serious swimmers might commit to their long morning lengths, or you could seek out shade — and a snooze — under its retractable roof or parasol-canopied sunloungers.

Spa

The Recovery Lab restores fitness-fatigued limbs and weights-worn muscles. You’ll find classic offerings like massages and facials, plus more alternative treatments, such as percussive and compression therapies, myofascial cupping and dry needling. Retreat to the sauna or zen room for some chilled-out relaxation, or book in with a personal trainer or nutritionist for a more structured approach to wellness.

Packing tips

Your Oura ring or Apple watch — you’ll want to track your fitness highs and health-is-wealth meals while at this wellness-centric resort.

Also

The athlete’s-dream Fitness Lab is an open-plan gym with dedicated cardio and free-weight areas, plus one group class — pilates, yoga, HIIT — is included with your stay. For alfresco workouts, the hotel partners with a nearby tennis centre.

Pet‐friendly

One pooch can join you in the rooms, suites and studios (two are welcome in the one-bedroom apartments and above) for €16.50 each a night, plus a one-off cleaning fee of €49.50. The communal areas are for humans only. See more pet-friendly hotels in Tivat.

Children

Welcome. The two-bedroom apartments and above serve bigger clans, and babysitting can be arranged. Little Smiths aged 11 or less can sleep on an extra bed for €25 a night; for 12- to 15-year-olds, it's €50 a night. A cot can be added to any room for free.

Dress Code

In your matching Lululemon sets, perhaps with a just-worked-out sheen.

Hotel restaurant

Siro Table takes a your-body-is-a-temple approach to dining, transforming local ingredients into Mediterranean and Balkan dishes. Its fresh fare can be tailored to you and your wellness goals, and you can work with one of the hotel’s nutritionists to figure out what will make you look and feel good.

Hotel bar

Your newfound virtuosity will remain intact after an evening at Siro Social, the hotel’s rooftop bar, with its organic and natural wines, and low- and zero-alcohol cocktails (fret not, stiffer drinks are on offer, too). Set in the lobby, Refuel Bar supplies workout-enhancing shakes, grab-and-go snacks and upmarket vending machines with fresh fruit and protein-packed bites.

Last orders

Siro Table is open for breakfast, 6.30am until 10.30am; lunch hours are noon until 3pm; for dinner, it’s 6pm until 10pm. Refuel Bar is open at all hours. Siro Social pours from 6pm to 1am.

Address
Siro Boka Place
Blaza Jovanovica 1
Porto Montenegro
85320
Montenegro

Siro Boka Place is poised between mountains and sea in coastal Tivat, close to Porto Montenegro and overlooking the Bay of Kotor.

Planes

Tivat Airport is a 20-minute drive from the hotel; Podgorica Airport is just under two hours away by road. You could also fly into Dubrovnik Airport, which is a 90-minute drive away in neighbouring Croatia. Staff can arrange transfers in electric vehicles for a charge.

Automobiles

Tivat is a walkable town, and staff can arrange tours and transfers. Should you choose to drive, there’s parking at the hotel with charged valet services.

Worth getting out of bed for

At Siro Boka Place, the ever-active will get endorphin highs from its all-things-wellness programming. Warm up with a high-octane cardio or boxing class at the Fitness Lab, before a game of tennis, padel or basketball on the hotel’s down-the-road courts; cool down with cryotherapy or a holistic treatment at the Recovery Lab, plus yin yoga and meditation are slower-paced favourites.

The great outdoors is your gym, too: staff can arrange rafting on the Tara River, hiking or biking across verdant mountains and thrill-seeking canyoning. Downtime is needed after adventurous days, and you can seek this out on golden-hued sunset sailing tours, in wine tastings at local vineyards and hand-in-hand strolls through Kotor’s old town or quaint Perast, which looks out to legend-shrouded Lady of the Rocks.

Local restaurants

Waterfront Bokka Modern entices with its leafy riviera-like terrace, contemporary interiors and refined plates of fresh, local produce. Balkan-nodding Babi is a sea-facing restaurant and wine bar with hearty-yet-healthy dishes that’ll see you through from breakfast to long after sunset. One sits in the heart of Porto Montenegro, and alongside yacht-spotting, you’ll eye up catch of the day and chilled wines.

Local cafés

You won’t have to go far for a caffeine fix as Coffee Novi neighbours the hotel and supplies heart-topped flat whites and coffee-alternative lattes. The vibe at Kafeterija Porto may be laidback, but it takes its coffee seriously: you can pick your beans and blend, and skilled baristas will whip them into top brews.

Local bars

We’re falling for Crush, a picturesque wine bar with a pine-shaded terrace, champagne cocktails and charcuterie plates. Onyx Bar & Garden is a verdant poolside spot with signature tipples — some have kitschy touches — and polished bar bites.

As soon as our reviewers have returned from this health-retreat hotel in Montenegro and unpacked their workout kit and protein-shake recipes, a full account of their well-balanced break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside Siro Boka Place in Tivat…

Resort-slash-retreat Siro Boka Place knows that consistency is key. It’s backed by some serious sportspeople — AC Milan and Olympic boxer Ramla Ali — and in true going-for-gold style, you’ll find exercise accessories in every soft-hued room and apartment, and one group class each is included with your stay.

A bit of competition is always healthy (right?) and you can seek this out at the vast Fitness Lab, with its dedicated workout areas, on-hand personal trainers and cardio or reformer-pilates classes.

But rest is always welcome, for both amateurs and committed athletes. Sea breeze and mountain views restore, as does the Recovery Lab with its alternative therapies. The alfresco pool might be semi-Olympic in size, but it’s relaxed in feel — an ambience that continues upstairs to the rooftop bar and terrace.

If getting stronger, sleeping better and preferring coconut water to cocktails aligns with your travel goals, in Siro Boka Place you may have found your perfect coach.
