Each of the four stone-and-wood cottages has a glass wall offering sweeping views of the Himalayas, as well as a fireplace.
Packing tips
No need to haul too many hefty tomes: the library’s full of interesting adventure tales and travelogues to inspire visitors.
Also
The mountain setting and remote location make the hotel nearly impassable for wheelchairs.
Children
Over-12s welcome. Extra beds can be added to rooms, if necessary. Those who book the property exclusively can bring children aged three and over.
Sustainability efforts
Shakti’s lodgings are exceptionally green: most run on solar power, waste water is reused and the chef whips up organic, fair-trade food, including herbs and vegetables grown locally.
