Our favourite rooms
All villas are reclusive retreats hemmed in by dense foliage, making them ideal for romantic escapes (or giving ample space for groups and families). Panacea’s trump card, though, has to be the peerless Praana residence, more its own resort than a villa. Two infinity pools, a Muay Thai boxing ring, a flood-lit tennis court, and a fully-equipped gym, sauna and steam room, anyone? Or how about hosting your own full moon party? It has a basement where you can rave away in your own nightclub (with a dancefloor and bar), or do pop music proud on the karaoke machine. Or simply curl up on one of 10 reclining leather chairs in the cinema room, glass of wine in hand from a bottle kept in your private cellar.
Your sleekly-designed infinity pool is guarded by a small army of contemporary animal statuettes, rows of daybeds and an open-air pavilion for outside dining. The waters of the Gulf of Samui can be seen in the distance across the enveloping rainforest canopy.
Treat yourself to a free one-hour yoga session plus in-room massage treatments, or stay in the Praana residence for access to the exclusive spa and gym, where there’s a sauna, steam room, and staff on-hand in the dedicated massage studio to provide traditional thai, oil and deep tissue massages, as well as reflexology.
A book of Muay Thai boxing tips will ensure you don’t begin your lesson on the ropes. And what about that tiger-pattern onesie? You’ll have the place to yourself, so why not…
Mobile phones with local SIM cards are available to borrow.
The free-your-mind design doesn’t mean families aren’t welcome. There are free cots and beds for babies, plus bottle-sterilising facilities. Toddlers and teenagers are accommodated with a raft of arts and crafts, board games, toys and DVDs.
Panacea’s private villas are fantastic for families. Each one comes with its own outdoor area, generous separate living quarters and a swimming pool. Hotel staff are well-versed in accommodating little ones, with a pool table, games consoles, table football and plenty of board games, books and toys to keep them suitably amused.
Children aged 2 to 12.
Although fold-away cots and cribs – plus a wide range of toys and DVDs – are available for children staying in all villas, the Praana residence has the addition of a dedicated Kids Club with games consoles, books, toys, board games, TV and DVDs.
There are outside spaces for children to run about in, plus table football, games consoles, a pool table and plenty of arts and crafts to keep them occupied.
Each villa has its own sleekly-designed, family-sized infinity pool, and hotel staff can supply swimming aids and arm bands for pool newbies.
Speak to your personal chef to arrange specific meals for your little ones. High chairs are provided.
Babysitters can be arranged for a minimum of one hour at a time.
