Setting

Costa del soul

The whole clan is taken care of at Oku Andalusia, where adult sophistication is paired with young-at-heart fun. This recently opened resort is a work in progress — a beach club, and tennis and padel courts will open next year. But for now, there’s still plenty of ways to kick back: little ‘uns can garden or paint while parents take some ‘us time’ at the outdoor pools or Mediterranean restaurants. It’s a formula set to make family time together all the sweeter.

Hotel closed

The hotel opens annually from March to November.

At the hotel

Gym, boutique, charged laundry service and free WiFi throughout; tennis and padel courts, and beach club will open in 2026. In rooms: TV, Marshall Bluetooth speaker, air-conditioning, Nespresso coffee machine, tea-making kit, minibar, free bottled water, bathrobes, slippers and luxury bath products.

Our favourite rooms

Oku Andalusia’s wabi-sabi style is best soaked up in its bedrooms, which are kitted our with earthy tones and views of the sea or resort’s gardens. We’re nabbing a Roof Terrace Sea View, with its Med-backdropped sunloungers and shaded seating area. If you fancy secluded dips para dos, make a beeline for a Deluxe Suite with a private pool.

Poolside

With its beach-club feel, the sea-facing terrace conjures laidback Balinese days with four saltwater pools, swaying palm trees and palapa parasols. For longer lengths, hit the main pool, or if size doesn’t matter, you’ll find two smaller pools on the lower levels, plus a little-Smiths-only spot for shallow splashes. You'll find a fifth (heated) pool at the spa.

Spa

The state-of-the-art spa is decked out with an indoor pool, sauna and steam room; a relaxation area, meditation courtyard and medicinal-herb garden will help delay your return to the real world. You'll find sleep-enhancing massages and bespoke facials on the treatment menu, and you’ll also get an extra wellness boost in yoga, breathwork or sound healing sessions.

Packing tips

A notebook will come in handy for jotting down herbal remedies from a garden workshop, or gratitude journalling after a healing sound bath.

Also

There’s a high-tech gym for endorphin-releasing workouts, and while the tennis and padel courts are still being developed, the hotel can arrange games at a nearby club instead.

Children

Welcome. Most rooms take a free baby cot; all suites sleep up to two under-12s on a double sofa-bed for a charge. There's a kids' club with daily activities for under-12s, such as gardening, move nights and painting.

Best for

All ages.

Dress Code

Easy, breezy beachwear flies at each restaurant, but you might prefer something sleeker for dinners at To Kima.

Hotel restaurant

A variety of dining spots will see you through from day-starting yoga sessions to late-night revelry. A farm-fresh breakfast buffet marks mornings at the Terrace, a central courtyard that's equally enticing for lunchtime tapas and daily changing dinners. Poolside To Kima impresses with an all-day selection of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, such as salads, bocadillos and sharing plates, plus a kids’ menu keeps little Smiths satisfied. For now, you can try Teyo’s Nikkei plates and omakase menu at To Kima — its permanent location will open down the line. The Beach Club will open in 2026.

Hotel bar

Hole up with a carafe of sangría or signature cocktail at the Terrace; sip local wines and French bubbles by the pool at To Kima.

If Smith-approved Oku Ibiza and Oku Kos are anything to go by, you’re in for a treat at Oku Andalusia

There are surface similarities — the brand’s trademark rustic-luxe style, holistic wellness and chef Mark Vaessen-led dining — but unlike its sister stays, this newcomer is set to charm all ages.

It’s recently opened, so a few holiday favourites are still in the works: tennis and padel courts, and a beach club are due to open in 2026. In the meantime, though, there’s still fun to be had, by the tiered alfresco pool, in yoga or sound healing sessions, and at a handful of Med-inspired restaurants.

Its location is privileged — on Andalucia’s sun-drenched coastline, overlooking sand dunes and the Rock of Gibraltar — but our go-to position is on one of the sea-breeze-kissed sunloungers...
