The shrine to minimalism maxes out with a rooftop pool, vast suites and floor-to-ceiling windows framing the urban greenery – but everywhere else, it’s clutter-free and, always, peachy-keen.

Our favourite rooms
Obviously, if you’ve got De Niro levels of funds, go for the penthouse – the ninth-floor suite has panoramas out over the Buckhead greenery and is the only room (if you can call it that) with access to the rooftop pool and terrace. No less zen are the temple-like Zen and Momiji Suites.
Poolside
Nobu Atlanta’s rooftop is the proud owner of a saltwater pool, open for dips from 5am until 9pm.
Packing tips
A taste for miso-marinated black cod; kimonos, optional. If it’s a hot and humid Atlanta summer, you may find a use for the Dyson hair-taming gear in your room.
Propping up the bar from the comfort of one of the stools, or have some sushi served straight to your sunlounger on the rooftop terrace.

Hotel restaurant
Nobu should need no introduction by now: Robert De Niro and Nobu Matsuhisa’s restaurant concept has gone global for a reason (the population loves sushi, evidently). As well as the staple miso-marinated black cod, signature dishes are yellowtail sashimi and rock-shrimp tempura. Breakfast dishes include agave oatmeal with almond butter and berries; toast with shiso, satsuma marmalade and whipped ricotta; and just plain old omelettes.
Hotel bar
Stop by for a lychee martini before or after your Nobu eating experience. There’s also a bar up on the roof for sundowners overlooking the skyline.
Last orders
Both the bar and restaurant are open between 7am and 10am, and again from 5pm until 10pm (11pm on Friday and Saturday).
Room service
Black cod in bed? Absolutely, if it’s between 5pm and 11pm. You can also order in breakfast from 7am until 10.30am.
You’ll find this Nobu outpost in the smart Buckhead district of uptown Atlanta, close to one of the district’s signature malls: Phipps Plaza.
Planes
Nobu Atlanta is within easy reach of the city’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport – the drive should take around 20 minutes. The hotel doesn’t arrange transfers, but app-hailed cabs are readily available.
Trains
The MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, if you’re interested) calls in at Buckhead, on the Red Line.
Automobiles
The hotel has a private car park with 24-hour security surveillance. It’s $45 a night for valet, $35 if you do your own reversing.
Worth getting out of bed for
Nobu Atlanta is in the smart residential and commercial district of Buckhead, opposite Phipps Plaza, which means shopping and steakhouses on your doorstep. Also over the road is Life Time, which the hotel has partnered with to ensure its guests can burn off any nikkei excesses as and when required; you can also lie horizontal there during a spa treatment if you prefer. The concierge will also be able to arrange personal shopping at Saks, all-American ten-pin bowling at the Painted Pin and trips to soda heaven (or, World of Coca-Cola). For something a little more refined, don’t miss the independent art galleries of Miami Circle and Bennett Street.
Local restaurants
Your own backyard may be a dining destination in its own right, but Buckhead has no shortage of places for further fine-dining opportunities. In the Deep South, you’re never far from some meat and steakhouses and they’re definitely a thing in Buckhead, from the northern Italian carnivorous cooking at Davio’s to so much more than strip at New York Prime and the old-school Bone’s. For something featuring a little more greenery, try St Cecilia, which has a crudo bar and small-plate perfection (get there before the fried gnocchi sells out).
Local bars
Along with steakhouses, dive bars are in abundance in Buckhead and beyond – try the helpfully named Dive Bar on Roswell Road. Or take a taste for whiskey to the Southern Gentleman, which stocks three pages’ worth of bourbon, rye and Scotch.

If you’re looking for a home in Georgia, the shiny new Nobu Atlanta is the minimalist temple to clean lines, tempura shrimp and meditative peace for you. From the outside, it’s as glossy as its skyscraper neighbors – and if you like the look of those, there’s good news: the hotel has a rooftop with a sunlounger-lined pool where you can enjoy the views over a lychee martini or three. The hotel has several floors of suites, all accented with neutrals and glossy wood to avoid any risk of overcrowding your headspace.
The Peach State has another, slightly less mellifluous nickname: the Goober State, due to its other major crop, the peanut. True to form, even Nobu’s address is peachy: Peachtree Road, which is where a certain deer’s head was once hung, thus christening the Buckhead district. These days, you’ll be hard pressed to find antlers; instead, it’s all upscale malls, steakhouses and art galleries, but everything’s pretty as a peach.
