The first-floor Trapanà South Suite has a private entrance via a secret staircase, and a second staircase leads up to a large roof terrace where guests can enjoy private dining. The bathroom opens onto a private terrace boasting an al fresco bath. Inside, there’s a large four poster draped in gorgeous Italian linen and a sofa, both nestled under an airy vaulted ceiling.

Smith favourite the Melograno Suite is perfectly private with a secluded garden that sweeps around two sides of the room. A little garden gate leads directly to the pool. There’s an internal and external shower plus an al fresco bath for two in the garden under the pomegranate (melegrano) tree, and indoorsthere’s a four-poster draped in luxurious Italian linen and a sofa, both below vaulted ceilings. A working fireplace cosies things up during cooler months. All rooms have Sky TV, Bose sound systems, and USB points (tech is hidden away) plus air-conditioning, free bottled water, White Company room fragrances, hair dryers, working fireplaces, underfloor heating and blackout curtains.
