These 26sq m rooms have a double bed (or twins). La Mecenas honours Victoria Ocampo, an Argentine writer and intellectual. Antique trinkets and curios decorate the room and there’s a rich palette of cream, copper and khaki. La Arrabalera is inspired by tango temptress and screen siren, Tita Merello. A bright orange throw injects colour to the room’s neutral hues and a statement light and antiques add character. La Contestataria pays homage to Mafalda, a comic strip created by cartoonist Joaquín Salvador Lavado, with a framed black and white cartoon hanging above the bed. El Gaucho channels cowboy chic: a painting of cattle above the bed, a patchwork cowhide rug and farmhouse-brown hues.

These 26–28sq m rooms have a double bed (or twins). El Escritor is a tribute to writer Jorge Luis Borges, with lashings of wood: topaz-coloured wooden floor, wooden desk (topped with a typewriter) and chair, and a little bedside table, pepped up with a paprika-coloured rug and a matching throw. El Libertador is themed around General José de San Martín, Argentina’s national hero. Decor is stately and masculine: a bed with a grand antique wood headboard, exotic red rugs and dark oil paintings and a bathroom with an earthy red palette. Painter Benito Quinquela Martín provides the inspiration behind El Pintor. Wood continues to feature largely and a vivid painting hangs above the bed. El Héroe pays homage to politician and general, Manuel Belgrano. The bed is fit for a dignitary, with its padded leather headboard and lipstick-red cushions and throws.

These 30sq m rooms have a double bed (or twins), an open fireplace and an ensuite bathroom. Two of the rooms have Jacuzzis, and one has a shower. La Primera Dama is inspired by Eva Perón, with black and white photographs of Eva, feminine furnishings and a palette of luxurious cream, olive and gold. El Idealista pays homage to Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara and has a private bar, a Scottish shower (which alternates between cold and hot water jets) and a double sink. The palette is masculine – grey and greens – and the room is decorated with antique wood furniture, the iconic red and black portrait of Che and black and white photographs of the revolutionary. El Tanguero is inspired by tango legend Carlos Gardel: furnishings pop with splashes of red, a guitar sits nonchalantly in a corner, a music book and a picture of Carlos ornament a desk and tango-inspired paintings decorate the bathroom.
