Most of the spa is wheelchair accessible, but unfortunately there are no pool lifts for access to the pools.
Hotel closed
The hotel closes for three weeks each year between mid-April and mid-May.
At the hotel
Ski room and shop, e-bikes to rent, reading room, paid laundry service and free WiFi throughout. In rooms: TV with Chromecast, Bose Bluetooth speaker or Bowers and Wilkins Zeppelin sound system, air-conditioning, electric fireplace, tea- and coffee-making kit, minibar, free bottled water, spa kit with bathrobes and flip flops, and Lefay Spa’s own Tra Suoni e Colori bath products.
Our favourite rooms
All suites have their own terrace, so there aren’t any short straws here. Swing for all-out spoiling in the Exclusive Spa Suite or the Royal Pool and Spa Suite, which each have a private spa area with a sauna and Jacuzzi. The Penthouse and multi-bedroom Residences are ideal if you’re coming with the whole clan.
Poolside
To soak in the sweeping mountainscape, head for the spa’s heated indoor-outdoor pool. There’s also an indoor sports pool and a saltwater whirlpool, both of which are over-16s only. All the resort’s pools are open from 8am to 8pm.
Spa
Heady with botanicals and basking in vast mountain views, the sprawling Lefay Spa is a worthy pilgrimage site for wellness devotees. There are five sauna areas set over four floors, each designed with different wellbeing goals in mind and guided by traditional Chinese medicine and modern practices. You’ll want to waft your way through every circuit (each has its own finely tuned temperature, humidity and aromatherapy), but we’re especially taken with the Red Phoenix area’s Finnish sauna and sensory showers, and the Black Tortoise area’s saltwater lake and grotto. Steaming and soaking aside, there’s a lengthy menu of massages and facials blending eastern and western techniques; spa staff can work treatments into tailored wellness programmes, along with a range of meditation, breathwork, yoga and exercise classes.
Packing tips
Seasonal outdoor gear is a given, but come just as equipped for slowing the tempo – yoga pants always, and perhaps a film camera to prompt you to pause mid-hike and capture mosaic fragments or mediaeval ruins.
Also
When you’ve spent so long in the spa that prune fingers are imminent, continue your wellness quest in the 24-hour fitness centre, which has Technogym cardio and weightlifting equipment, as well as garden-gazing studios for exercise and wellbeing classes.
Pet‐friendly
Four-pawed pals (up to 12kgs) can stay for €50 a day in the designated dog-friendly suites, which overlook the garden and have dog beds and bowls. They’re welcome in the lobby, Lounge Bar and Dolomia, and must have full international health certification. See more pet-friendly hotels in Trentino.
Children
Lefay Resort & Spa Dolomiti welcomes a select number of little Smiths up to 11 years in certain rooms, and has a kids club to entertain them, but the atmosphere at this serene stay is better suited to adults.
Sustainability efforts
Amid a landscape this awe-inspiring, it’s little wonder that care for the environment is a core tenet of the resort. Lefay produces its own renewable biomass energy, and other eco measures are baked into the building design, including high-tech insulation, water-saving taps and rainwater collection for use on the grounds.
