River Camp River Tent

Steps from the Dolores River, these 60sq m tents are ideal for avid fishermen or those that like to fall asleep to a gently running river. At the entrance, there’s a deck with loungers, giving you a spot to watch the sunrise over the mountains or stargaze after dark. Inside, there’s a king-size bed with bedlinen that nods to the patterns used by the Pueblo and Navajo, a gas stove, writing desk and lounge furniture. The ensuite bathroom – which has solid-steel walls and a slate-tiled floor for extra warmth – has a bath tub with an over-bath shower and twin marble sinks. Each tent also has a Dyson fan (with hot and cold settings), two mountain bikes and Aesop bath products. Tents at the River Camp are about a 10-minute drive from the main Hot Springs property. Not to worry, though — River Camp has its own dining options and, most importantly, a bar.

River Camp Mountain Tent

This two-storey cabin in the centre of the town sleeps up to four. It has a king-size bed in the master bedroom downstairs, and a queen-size bed, TV and DVD player in the loft. The cabin has a separate living room with a fireplace and wood-burning stove, and a porch with views of the mountains and meadows. The bathroom has a shower.

Dunton Store

This two-storey cabin across from the Saloon was once the town’s general store. It has a king-size bed, and two beds in the loft, as well as a separate dressing area, bathroom with a bath tub, wood-burning stove in the master bedroom and a private soaking pool out back. It has lots of film memorabilia in tribute to the Wild West. Each window looks out to the mountains and surrounding meadows.

Well House

This one-storey cabin is built around its own hot spring, and has a fireplace, king-size bed, wood-burning stove and a bathroom with shower. There’s a plunge pool inside, and a deck outside with views of the mountains.

Vertical Log

This two-storey cabin with two master bedrooms and a sleeping area in the loft can sleep up to six. It was built from vertical cottonwood timbers. It’s decked out with antiques, including a copper bath tub in one of the ensuite bathrooms. The view is of town and the mountains, and you can see and hear the waterfall from here.

Tipping Cabin

This two-storey cabin overlooking the river was shifted to Dunton from Parachute, another mining community in Colorado. It can sleep up to six, spread across three bedrooms, two of which have king-size beds, and one has twin beds. There are two bathrooms and a separate living area.

Potter House

This secluded cabin sleeps up to 10. It has a kitchen, living area with fireplace, views of the mountains and two ponds, with lots of trout for fishing, outside. The master bedroom has a king-size bed, fireplace and ensuite bathroom. There are another three bedrooms, one with a king-size bed, one with a queen-size bed and one with twins. The office also has a fold-away bed, bathroom and TV with DVD player.
