Hotel restaurant

With stints at the Ritz‑Carlton in Miami and Puerto Rico under his belt, chef Miguel Acosta is no stranger to luxury kitchens. Perfectly seared regional proteins and refined small plates fill lunch and dinner menus, dished in a color-drenched dining room that’s defined by its downtown views and sculptural light fixtures. And for dessert, a curated selection of sweets and global candies are arranged like the art that surrounds you.

Hotel bar

In the Living Room, sleek sofas and soft ambient lighting set the tone for intimate conversation over seasonal cocktails. Hidden just off the Club, behind an unmarked door, is a speakeasy with secretive after-hours sips and karaoke. On Thunder game nights, the energy cranks up: expect special happy hours pouring discounted cocktails and cold beers, paired with comforting bar snacks like loaded nachos and crispy wings.

Last orders

Lunch hours at Citizen House's restaurant are 11am until 3pm; for dinner, it's 5pm until 10pm. The bar is open from 10am until 11pm.

Address
Citizen House
600 North Robinson Avenue 4th Floor
Oklahoma City
73102
United States

Taking up residence on Robinson Avenue, Citizen House sits at the crossroads of Oklahoma City’s Downtown, Midtown and Innovation districts.

Planes

Oklahoma City Airport (also known as Will Rogers) is a 20-minute drive from the hotel. Most international flights require a connection in Dallas, Chicago or Houston.

Trains

Amtrak’s Heartland Flyer has routes from the beautifully restored Santa Fe Depot, located at 100 South EK Gaylord Boulevard in the heart of downtown. Services run daily between Oklahoma City and Fort Worth along a 206‑mile route with stops in Norman, Purcell, Pauls Valley and Ardmore.

Automobiles

While Oklahoma City’s compact downtown is walkable and serviced by streetcars, having a car unlocks the city’s sprawling neighborhoods and makes quick work of day-trips — from lakeside escapes at Lake Thunderbird and storied Route 66 stops to vineyard-hopping in the countryside. Plus, there’s valet parking at the hotel for $35 a night.

Worth getting out of bed for

Oklahoma City wears its Western roots with pride; at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, you’ll find everything from classic rodeo memorabilia to fine local art and powerful tributes to Native American history. Then head to Stockyards City, where working cattle auctions still take place and the storefronts brim with boots, Stetson hats and saddle-ready denim.

Explore the Plaza District for indie galleries, murals and craft cocktails, or dive into more modern exhibitions at Oklahoma Contemporary. There’s kayaking and ziplining at the Boathouse District along the Oklahoma River, and Scissortail Park serves up green space, food trucks and live music throughout the year. Be sure to stop by Bricktown, too — a former warehouse hub turned canalside entertainment district, where you can hop aboard a water taxi or settle into a rooftop bar. Also a must-visit, the Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum is a poignant, interactive experience housed in the former Journal Record Building that survived the 1995 bombing.

Local restaurants

For special occasions, Grey Sweater is an intimate restaurant helmed by award‑winning Andrew Black, offering an off-menu, chef’s-choice tasting experience. If you’re more into wood-fired pizzas, hot honey chicken and craft cocktails (with live music), head down to Jones Assembly on historic Film Row.

Local cafés

Just opposite Citizen House, Kitchen No. 324 is a farm-to-table café known for its cheerful brunch menu. Everything from craft bakery goods to the fried green tomato Benedict delights, but it’s the crispy, gravy‑laden fried chicken pot pie that truly steals the show.

Local bars

Residents drift into The Mule in the Plaza District just as much for the bar snacks as the beer — its famed fried cheese curds and generous Okie poutine are practically local legends, served alongside an ever-rotating craft beer selection. Then there’s Oklahoma Ranch, a classic country bar in Bricktown that regularly transforms into a dance hall, with live music or DJ sets.

Anonymous review

Every hotel featured is visited personally by members of our team, given the Smith seal of approval, and then anonymously reviewed. As soon as our reviewers have returned from this members-only residence in Oklahoma City and unpacked their bolo ties and basketball merch, a full account of their Midwestern break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside Citizen House in Oklahoma…

Occupying floors two to four in a downtown block shared by other creative brands, Citizen House is a private members’ club, boutique hotel and productivity-boosting workspace rolled into one. Designed by Michaelis Boyd out of their New York and London studios, the interiors pulse with electric blues, rich textures and deliberately mismatched patterns, creating an atmosphere that invites both quiet contemplation (with or without screens) and upbeat conversations. Keep craft cocktails at the ready, too, especially if there’s a chance the night might end with a karaoke session.

Settle into one of the 16 rooms or suites, and make yourself at home with full access to the club’s members-only spaces. Whether you’re in Oklahoma City to cheer on the Thunder, join the Midwestern cowboys at Stockyards' live cattle auctions, or ticking off the bucket list on a wider Route 66 journey, this multitasking residence finds several reasons for you to linger a little longer.
