Our favourite rooms
Past meets present at Castilla Termal Brihuega, a former textile factory with original features, such as inscriptions, stonework and wooden beams, that are paired with contemporary furnishings. If your neck starts to ache from staring up at the sky-high ceilings in a Junior Suite, a soak in its freestanding bath tub should do the trick; the Suites are spacious but have a cosy feel with their vaulted dark-brown beams.
Poolside
Set in the wellness area, the hydrothermal pool is a modern take on Roman-style baths, with exposed-brick walls, stone archways and bright skylights. It’s a space designed for sigh-releasing relaxation with in-pool hot tubs, jet areas and water walls. In summer, a second garden-set pool opens for alfresco lengths that overlook the terracotta-tiled village and surrounding countryside.
Spa
You could get a quasi-massage in the pool on one of the in-water jet beds, or book in for the real deal at the spa, where signature therapies soothe with organic balms and oils. The 1750 treatment nods to the hotel’s textile factory heritage, weaving in traditional fabrics to wrap and stretch the body; the lavender field ritual infuses the region’s fragrant herb into a scrub, body wrap and volcanic-stone massage.
Packing tips
No need to pack your sleep spray — a bundle of Brihuega lavender rests on your pillow, so you’ll drift off in no time.
Also
The hotel’s manicured garden has been declared a site of cultural interest. It’s dotted with various sundowner-calling seating areas and Hemingway once sat on its terrace that overlooks the rolling hills.
Children
Welcome. Free baby cots can be added to any room on request, there are connecting options, and the Triple Junior Suite can take an extra bed. La Redonda has a children’s menu.
Sustainability efforts
Sustainability isn’t a checkbox at Castilla Termal Brihuega, it’s woven into every fibre of its being. The hotel is dedicated to reducing its carbon footprint year-on-year, thanks to its use of only renewable energy, smart climate and lighting systems, circular initiatives, and hyper-local, seasonal suppliers. Experiences are rooted in the local area, 90% of staff come from nearby villages and original features from the 18th-century textile mill were retained during the restoration process.
