Setting

Tagus-side tempo

In Alfama’s fado-filled heart, serviced apartment stay Casagrand Luxury Apartments Lisboa hits all the right notes. More details

Rates at Casagrand Luxury Apartments Lisboa exclude breakfast, but you can place your order using the QR code in your kitchen for on-demand morning treats.

Also

Although steep and cobbled Lisbon is infamously unsuitable if you use a wheelchair, if you have some mobility, all floors at Casagrand Luxury Apartments Lisboa are served by two lifts, and the Deluxe Superior apartment is thoughtfully adapted.

At the hotel

Bicycle parking and free WiFi. In rooms: fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer, TV, climate control, minibar, Nespresso coffee machine, tea-making kit, free bottled water and Molton Brown bath products.

Our favourite rooms

We’d start with the Deluxe Duplex with Patio, where tiled walls meet fresh air on a private terrace made for lazy breakfasts or sunset toasts. The Deluxe Plus wins for its sweeping River Tagus views and space to stretch out — ideal for families or groups of friends. And if you’re travelling in style (or numbers), the Premium Sea View steals the show with four bedrooms and twin terraces that turn Lisbon’s skyline into your living room backdrop.

Poolside

There are plans for an indoor swimming pool; watch this (subterranean) space.

Spa

For now, wellness comes to you — personal trainers and massage therapists can be booked to your apartment for private sessions. Soon, the new lower level will add a gym, sauna, and swimming pool for guests who prefer to stretch or soak closer to home.

Packing tips

Pack light — these apartments have everything but the fado guitar (and given the building’s musical past, you might even hear one strum nearby). With washer-dryers, full kitchens, and room to linger, you’ll be living like a local in no time.

Also

More than 13,500 original tiles line the walls — a patchwork of blues and whites that keeps the building’s old soul gleaming beneath its new polish.

Children

With one- to four-bedroom apartments, there’s space for every set-up — from toddlers to grandparents in tow. Baby cots are available too, making Casagrand a comfortable fit for families and multi-generational getaways alike.

Some of the apartment dining rooms come with front-row seats to the River Tagus.

Dress Code

Whatever you happened to roll out of bed in will do just fine; it’s your kitchen, after all.

Hotel restaurant

There’s no restaurant on-site, but with a fully equipped kitchen in every apartment and Alfama’s tangle of tempting eateries just outside your door, you’re perfectly placed to cook in or dine out on a whim.

Hotel bar

The hotel bar’s entirely your own invention — whether that means raiding the minibar or shaking up something from whatever you’ve stocked in the fridge.

Room service

This gets a modern twist here — just scan the in-room QR code to order from a handpicked local restaurant to be delivered to your door in about 30 minutes.

Rua de São João da Praça 83
Lisbon

Portugal

On Rua de São João da Praça in Alfama, a few steps from Lisbon’s Sé Cathedral and a leisurely wander from the Praça do Comércio, Casagrand Luxury Apartments Lisboa sits between the castle-crowned hill and the Tagus.

Planes

Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport is the nearest, about 25 minutes away by car; a regular taxi runs at around €30, though private transfers can be arranged, from €60–€180, depending on luggage and group size.

Trains

Lisboa–Santa Apolónia station, less than a 15-minute walk from the hotel, links Lisbon to major Portuguese cities including Porto and Coimbra, as well as international routes into Spain.

Automobiles

With trams and metro stops close by, there’s little need for a car in Lisbon — those cobbled hills do the sightseeing for you. If you do decide to drive, the underground Campo das Cebolas carpark sits about 100 metres from the hotel, with spaces from around €25 a night.

Worth getting out of bed for

In the heart of Alfama’s melodic maze, Casagrand Luxury Apartments Lisboa sits within earshot of fado and footsteps from the capital’s top sights. Start your wander at the nearby Sé Cathedral before winding uphill to the Miradouro de Santa Luzia, where the Tagus and terracotta rooftops meet in perfect harmony. Don’t miss the Fado Museum or the tiled Mural of Amália Rodrigues — both tributes to the neighbourhood’s soulful soundtrack — and browse for vintage gems at the Feira da Ladra flea market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. When you’re ready to go beyond the guidebook, the concierge can tailor private tours and local experiences to your rhythm.

Local restaurants

Start with Pinóquio, a Lisbon classic where seafood rice arrives rich and briny, enjoyed with a chilled vinho verde on the sunny terrace. For dinner with soul, Casa de Linhares pairs live fado performances with authentic Portuguese flavours in an atmospheric 17th-century setting. And for something more modern, Prado serves farm-to-table dishes in a beautifully minimalist dining room — all stone, greenery and candlelight.

Local cafés

Grab a flat white at Hello, Kristof, a Scandinavian-style café-meets-magazine shop where good coffee and creative chatter flow in equal measure. Across the branches of Fábrica Coffee Roasters, the crowd’s a mix of locals and laptop nomads jostling for each fresh batch of pastéis de nata

Local bars

Slip into By the Wine, José Maria da Fonseca’s sleek flagship bar, where candlelight illuminates curved brick arches and Portuguese vintages are poured freely by the glass. Or, push through the discreet door at Red Frog Speakeasy to uncover an atmospheric cocktail den, all low lighting, jazz, and inventive drinks worth lingering over.

Casagrand Luxury Apartments Lisboa strikes a new chord for the brand — the stylish Lisbon sister to Smith stablemate, Casagrand Luxury Suites Barcelona — bringing history and high design into harmony. Housed in a century-old Alfama building once alive with fado and jazz, it still hums with that creative energy. Inside, restored ceilings and more than 13,500 original tiles meet sleek, contemporary furnishings and fully equipped kitchens designed for long, immersive stays. Apartments range from one to four bedrooms, some with river-view dining tables and private patios made for unwinding.

Service feels symphonic too — in-room massages, personal trainers, and digital dining hit the right tempo between ease and indulgence. Soon, a wellness wing with a gym, sauna, and pool will join the ensemble, ensuring every stay ends on a high note.
