Anonymous review

Every hotel featured is visited personally by members of our team, given the Smith seal of approval, and then anonymously reviewed. As soon as our reviewers have returned from this beachside hotel in Cape Town and unpacked their binoculars, a full account of their luxury city break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick postcard from Cape View Clifton in South Africa…

When we say that Cape Town beaches get windy, we mean windy. But the Clifton beaches, in the shadow of Table Mountain, are almost supernaturally sheltered: when Camps Bay is being sandblasted by the southeaster wind, you'll be smug in sheltered Clifton. Throw in first-class service, top-notch style and a serve-yourself honesty bar, and Cape View Clifton is your ideal boutique hotel home-from-home.

We loved

We have just returned home to Sydney and miss South Africa already. CVC was our first experience of Cape Town and South Africa and we will never forget it. The gorgeous guesthouse with it's stunning views of the 12 apostles and Atlantic, the luxurious rooms and amazing service were the perfect start to our honeymoon. We loved CVC and will recommend it to all our friends and family. A big thanks to Cobus (the onsite manager) who assisted us by arranging our hire car, provided recommendations for restaurants and secured us tables at some of Cape Town's top restaurants. We genuinely hope to come back to stay again!

Don’t expect

Room service. There are fabulous breakfasts onsite and an honesty bar with drinks and snacks but dinner must be ordered in or offsite. This didn't bother us at all though as Cape Town had some fabulous restaurants which are really affordable!
