Heavy silk curtains dress the windows of these 30sq m rooms, which have either a Georgian four-poster or a 17th-century carved oak bed. The bathroom is well worth spending time in, thanks to its free-standing roll-top bath and walk-in shower with dinner-plate-sized brass shower head. These Junior Suites punch above their weight, thanks to lashings of space (40sq m), antique furniture, characterful artworks and blissfully comfortable beds. The enormous canopy bed was built for a bishop (sadly we don’t have enough space here to tell you its rather naughty story).
