Our favourite rooms
Premium Room 507, with its enveloping beamed ceiling, is the pick for stargazers — the night sky above the massifs is best viewed through its roof window. If you’re staying a while, curl up in front of the fireplace in one of Ancora Cortina’s Grand Suites for an authentically alpine experience. And if you’re bringing the family, the Ancora Suite is an impressive space with a fully equipped kitchen and expansive views from its huge terrace.
Poolside
There’s no pool at Ancora Cortina but the spa houses a huge Jacuzzi with mesmerising mountain vistas.
Spa
The brand new spa may be dinky — it can host just eight at a time — but it punches above its weight. The sauna, steam bath, Jacuzzi and two experience showers are all clad in calming creamy marble. The light-filled relaxation suite and cryotherapy area are balm for ski-weary muscles. And products from French-Japanese experts Evidens de Beauté enrich the selection of wellness rituals and treatments anchored in the spa’s alpine surroundings. A fitness studio is kitted out with Technogym equipment, and yoga sessions and personal training can be arranged, on request.
Packing tips
Sunglasses (designer, naturally) earn their keep, countering both the snowy glare from the Dolomites and the after-effects of late nights in the hotel's Club Brave.
Also
The hotel’s restoration has been masterminded by owner Renzo Russo, who also owns fashion houses Marni, Jil Sander and Maison Margiela. You can pick up their pieces to take home from the hotel boutique.
Pet‐friendly
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Ancora Cortina and must be leashed in communal areas. For a nightly fee of €55, your pup will get a bed (two sizes available), bowl, treats and a supply of waste bags. See more pet-friendly hotels in Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Children
Welcome, although not especially catered to. The Ancora Suite sleeps four, and a baby cot can be added to any room (free of charge in the Executive and Prestige suites).
Sustainability efforts
Ancora Cortina’s restaurant sources ingredients from small local producers to reduce food miles and waste. Energy and water-saving measures, as well as minimal engagement with single-use items, have helped the hotel achieve the LEED certification for sustainability.
