Our favourite rooms
At Ameron Zürich Bellerive au Lac, all guest rooms stick to a common theme, with the same rich blues, watery greys and gently curving headboards making an appearance. We liked the slight bump in luxury that comes with the fifth-floor Premium room, with clever mirror panels reflecting the view of the lake and sky outside. For its bigger proportions and extra flashes of decorative va-va-voom, the Junior Suite with the lake view gets our top vote, with its balconies, roomier bathroom, dining area and swish curvy sofa seating.

Sustainability efforts
The hotel is part of the ‘Swisstainable’ tourism programme, encouraging visitors to engage with sustainable travel across Switzerland. Much of the lighting in communal areas is motion-activated, and 80 per cent of it is LED-powered. Power in guest rooms is only activated when the key-card is inserted, and cut off when the guest leaves. Reuse of towels and linens is encouraged and taps are fitted with aerators to reduce water waste. Bath products come in special dispensers to reduce waste, and staff are trained in waste separation for recycling.
