Setting

Nestled near Naoussa

Acron Villas is a rustic, all-villa escape perched in the rugged hills above Paros’ famous Kolympithres Beach and the village of Naoussa. The two-to-five-bedroom villas offer plenty of privacy for families and honeymooners alike – each comes with sweeping sea views, a private pool terrace, unfussy interiors and kitted-out kitchens. In other words, they’re the perfect blank canvas for unstructured days of sun-soaked serenity. Down in the bay, strollable fishing villages, traditional tavernas and golden beaches lie in wait.

Top Table

Enjoy leisurely meals on your sea-facing private terrace, watching the boats go by.

You can’t go amiss with breezy kaftans, oversize linens and your best leather sandals. But this is paradise at its most private, so there’s no-one to judge.

There’s no restaurant or bar on-site, but each villa has a fully equipped kitchen for cosy meals in. Or, head out to Paros’ seafood-serving tavernas and buzzy beach bars.

Hotel bar

Address
Acron Villas
Kolympithres
Paros
84401
Greece

The villas are on the sheltered northern shore of Paros, overlooking the Cycladic island’s most scenic beach, Kolympithres, famed for its million-year-old granite rock formations.

Planes

The airport in Paros, which you can reach via Athens, is a 30-minute drive away – the hotel can organise transfers for €60 one-way (up to six people).

Other

Many people arrive to Paros’ port town of Parikia via ferry from Athens, Santorini or Mykonos. Once here, you can also hop on to other Cycladic isles, such as larger Naxos and little Antiparos.

Worth getting out of bed for

The fishing village of Naoussa is along the bay, five kilometres away (it takes about 10 minutes to reach it by car) – wander the labyrinthine lanes and you’ll be rewarded with fashionable boutiques, artisanal delis and trad tavernas on the waterfront.

Further around the bay, you’ll find Monastiri, another popular beach with a great sand-side restaurant. Here you’ll also find 800-acre Paros Park, with its walking trails and open-air cinema set in a stone, sea-facing amphitheatre. On the east coast, Chrissi Akti or ‘Golden Beach’ is a renowned windsurfing spot. Further afield, two of the most photogenic, strollable inland villages are Marpissa and nearby Prodromos, which you can link up via the Byzantine Road walking route.

Local restaurants

To seek out shade during a day on Kolympithres, head to beach bar and restaurant Paros on the Rocks. Corner café Sousouro is a great place for fresh smoothies, power breakfasts and punchy craft cocktails. Another great bet is seafood-serving Ouzeri Mitsi – one of the oldest tavernas on the island – which serves up local wines and the day’s catch on the sand of Naoussa’s Agios Dimitrios cove. For a formal dinner one night, head over to fellow Smith spot and nearby island neighbour, Parilio Hotel.

Anonymous review

Every hotel featured is visited personally by members of our team, given the Smith seal of approval, and then anonymously reviewed. As soon as our reviewers have returned from these secluded villas near Naoussa and unpacked their sturdy sandals and sun hats, a full account of their Cycladic island break will be with you. In the meantime, to whet your wanderlust, here's a quick peek inside Acron Villas in Paros…

Let the madding crowd clamber over the rest of the Cycladic isles – you’ve got peaceful Paros: just as sun-drenched and idyllic, but with less than half the holidaying hordes. It may take some time to adjust to the tortoise-like pace here, but practice makes perfect. Start by honing your thousand-yard stare: from your villa, that’ll include the glittering Aegean, the rock-strewn countryside and the boats bobbing in Naoussa’s bay, a fishing town so nostalgic it should be sepia-toned. Next, do some lazy laps in your private pool, have a languid and wine-fuelled lunch at a taverna in town (if you finish before 4, you’re doing it wrong), and take a siesta in the shade on your outdoor terrace. Soon, you’ll be suspended in that permanently-swimsuit-clad haze that holidays at Acron Villas are made of.
