The 20 Rajah Brooke Suites (70 sq m) on the upper floor combine traditional and modern Asian styles seamlessly. Dark wood furnishings and polished wooden floors contrast with whitewashed walls, blue and turquoise upholstery and Thai decor. Each double room features a king-size bed (which can be split into Hollywood twins on request), a walk-in wardrobe and dressing room, freestanding Victorian bath tub, indoor and outdoor showers, sunlit WC and twin sinks. Rooms extend onto an airy vintage-tiled veranda with a rattan planter’s chair and day-bed overlooking the tropical garden. These rooms can be interconnected via the private balconies for family stays.

Averaging 75sq m each, the six East Borneo Suites combine traditional and modern Asian designs. Dark wood furnishings and polished wooden floors contrast with whitewashed walls, red and gold upholstery and Thai decor. Each has a king-size bed (or two single beds on request), a vast walk-in wardrobe and dressing room, and a bathroom with a freestanding Victorian bathtub, indoor and outdoor rainfall showers and twin sinks. All extend onto airy vintage-tiled verandas with a rattan planter’s chair and a daybed overlooking the tropical gardens.

Measuring at least 70sq m, each of these one-bedroom suites has a king-size bed, a spacious living area with a rattan planter’s chair, a vintage-tiled veranda with cane shades, and a plush daybed. A large walk-in dressing room leads to the ensuite bathroom, which has twin sinks, a Victorian bath tub and separate indoor and outdoor showers. This room has two daybeds which can sleep children, and most of the other suites can be interconnected.

The two William Bain Terrace Suites offer even more space and luxury. Overlooking the historic pillared house, infinity pool and garden wall from the upper floor, both 100-square-metre suites extend to a generous living room, combining traditional and modern Asian styles seamlessly. Beyond the living room, an airy vintage-tiled veranda with rattan planter’s chair, day-bed and sunken bath offers views of either the garden or pool. The two top-tier, ground-floor suites each sprawl across 135 square metres, boasting a generous living room and super-king-size bedroom combining traditional and modern Asian styles seamlessly. French doors open onto the infinity pool, greenery wall and historic pillared house, and each suite has its own 5.5 x 2.5 metre swimming pool.
