Luxury holidays in Columbia River Gorge

The Columbia River Gorge, an 80-mile seam between Washington and Oregon, shifts from arid grasslands in the east to the lush, temperate rainforests of bigleaf maple in the west. Adventures here are a tale of earth and water: hiking its forest-flanked trailheads and breezy basalt bluffs, or fishing, paddleboarding or windsurfing its mighty rivers. And you can refuel with local craft brews, valley-grown wines and ‘Tex-ish’ barbecue.

When to go

May and June bring snowmelt and wildflower season. While temperatures may be cooler and wetter in September and October, you'll enjoy fewer crowds than in July and August and have the bonus of watching the landscape embrace fall color.
