In Umbertide –a quaint town in northern Umbria – sunset-hued homes and the glow from traditional trattorias cast watercolour-worthy vignettes over the Tiber.     Though Umbertide is a walkable town, you’ll want a car for exploring the undulating Umbrian countryside, plus its castles and cities – Arezzo and Montepulciano are about an hour’s drive away; Florence is just over two.
