Luxury holidays in Tsavo
When to go
The dry season, from late June to October, is your best bet for successful safaris.
Getting there
-
Planes
Fly into Nairobi’s international hub Jomo Kenyatta, transfer to nearby Wilson Airport, then either hit the road (with your own set of wheels or a hotel transfer) or catch a Safarilink flight or private charter to Tsavo. Hotels can help with arranging air transfers. -
Trains
The Madaraka Express train runs between Nairobi and Mombasa to Mtito Andei, on the western edge of the park. -
Automobiles
It’s around a four-hour drive from Nairobi and little less from Mombasa. Local road-users aren’t always sticklers for safety, so we’d say stick to hotel transfers. If you do fancy tackling the drive yourself, you’ll want a four-wheel drive.
